1. That aside, there should be specialistic solutions with sufficient damping. But I guess those are pretty expensive.

    = out of my budget

well, I'll give this one a try. If it's total crap, there's always ebay afterwards

another question, this time really dumb, but hey, it's me --> let's say I've burned a dvd. Now I want to get the label that came with the torrent and put in on the dvd. how to do that? is there a special "paper" that I have to print the label on and then glue it to the dvd? *dumb*
  3. PR 1.1 for the N8 is in the house. All back end stuff but lots of fun either way.
  4. I wonder when will it arrive over here. I hope we don't have to suffer the usual 3 months delay
  5. There we go, Nokia has made a deal with Microsoft. WP7 will be their priority OS in the future, with a bit of Symbian and MeeGo on the other end.

Expected move, as there were many rumours. Wonder how it will work out. If they do it good, they could compete in the high-end with iOS and Android (iPhone, Samsung, HTC). WP7 could get the lift it has been waiting for since its release.
  6. Gutted.. Nokia has now just became another OEM. Microsoft bagged an absolute bargain.

  7. It's a risk they take, Microsoft only benefits though because WP7 gets more attention. Android, iOS and WP7 will dominate the market even more from now on.

Windows gets a lot. Mainly Maps though. Nokia invested over $10 billion in Ovi Maps over the past 5 years and have just handed it to Microsoft.

Something will need to plug the gap in market share left by Symbian but I dare say all of it will go to Android. iOS won't expand much further and WP7 will see a bump.

Who knows though but it looks like the N8 will be my last Nokia device. But I don't like Android either. Not much choice for me.

Read reports about Nokia might switch to Android for the lower-end on the long run and dump Symbian and use MeeGo as a platform for testing. You're right, the market share will go to Android. Symbian is dying slowly, a shame because v3 made a good comeback.

Good point about Ovi Maps, Microsoft just became a bigger competitor for Google Maps. Something they always wanted. And Nokia helped them.
  10. Elop confirmed that Android is a no go. Meego will be what the N900 was which is a crying shame. Android and iOS proved that platforms can come from nowhere to market leaders in very little time if the execution is correct.

Symbian was shrinking but Nokia have killed off their highest market share OS and replaced it with the lowest market share OS.

It's gonna be a year at least before we see a device too. Just give me PR 2.0 for my N8 before it kicks the bucket.
