  1. Warranty was only one year.
    Think it could be a bug but I got antivirus so I would'nt know.
  2. I have never heard of a virus making a hardware malfunctioning like that. I could be wrong of course, but I think it might be purely a phyisical matter, some part of the touchpad wearing off or something.
  3. I've heard of viruses or malware affecting hardware. But it could be wear and tear, especially after 5-6 years.

    I just managed to score myself a Sony Experia for $100 - locked unfortunately but I'm looking to change networks anyway. Oh and the screen has a crack - so I have to get that replaced but apart from that it works perfectly.

    Installed the launcher I wanted too, and widgets.

  7. eBay screens go around 10-25$ depending on the gizmo. And most of them have fool-proof installation procedures!

  8. With that equation, this means it'll be $50 to replace including service fee.

There are stores in town where you can carry your eBay/similar bought screen and they'll replace it for you (let's assume the screen costed you 20$, then the whole thing will be around 50$ indeed); others won't and they want to use their own screens (that'll be more expensive, they make you pay for the service fee plus the screen - 75 or even 100$ might be your final cost). If you're not keen on replacing the screen by yourself, take your time and look for a decent store where they cheaply replace it for you. It won't be easy to find, but you'll do eventually
  10. Well I've most of the day tomorrow so I'm gonna be out early to get it done.

    The screen is just getting too hard to see especially when your eyesight is getting progressively worse due to light and other problems.

    As for 'bring your own screen', I didn't know you could do that. That's actually a good idea but dependent on the cost and the turn-around time (given I got the phone for next-to-nothing anyway) I might just use theirs. Plus they may or may not allow that anyway and it'd be wasted time and expense on my part. I'm certainly able to replace screens but I'll see anyway what happens.

  12. Anyway you're probably right. eBay purchases use to take around 14-20 days to arrive at home so maybe you're best trying to get it replaced instantly at some tech store (assuming they have Xperia Arc replacement screens there).
