Imo, you can easily combine the 2 songs, maybe snippet = Ultraviolet/ The Fly,
although I would love to hear them both in full version ofcourse

Both of them originated from the same primary song.

  2. ow, that explains a lot. What song then? Is there a B-side like native son/vertigo?

  3. Lady With The Spinning Head. You will hear a lot of Achtung Baby in that one song.
  4. A mash up of UV, Fly and Lady W/ A Spinning Head would just make the universe collapse because of the resulting power.

  5. thanks! and yes, it sounds really familiar

  6. The Fly is now my least favorite of Achtung Baby. Only some lyrics, and the solo save the song for me. But far inferior than the rest of the album. I prefer Lady WTSH (by the way, this smiley always reminds me to that song hahha ...)
  7. I actually don't mind how they've rotated UV now. It kind of gives the band the opportunity to keep it alive when they do play it rather soundling all half-arsed if they were to play it every night for 100 shows.

I only hope they play it at least once out of the two shows I'm currently scheduled to attend. I want to see other people around me who may not be too familiar with the song to really get into it too. I often wonder what the reaction has been from casual fans when they hear this live now. Do they get into it like we do?

  8. Casual fans obviously don't get "into" Ultraviolet if they don't know it (I mean, they can't sing along, etc) but from what I lived (even inside the inner circle, it seemed like the 50-75% of the people didn't know the song, as happened with TUF and most of NLOTH songs) and heard, they appreciate it a lot.

No danger Sergio?! The Fly is incredible. Second only to Streets for me....

  10. Nowadays it just doesn't hit me, doen't strick my chord, or whatever you want to call it. Happens the same with Zoo Station, but the "time is a train" part with the brutal Edge harmony makes it a superior song than The Fly.
Ok, The Fly has a tremendous solo (even better than the Even Better thing ... and probably better than Acrobat and LIB's solos as well) and the lyrics are so strongly poetic and awesomely weird (I love the "I gotta go, I'm running out of change" and the whole "call from hell" atmosphere) that it is in fact a great song, but... It's simply weaker to the rest of the album in that essential sense: it doesn't move me, it doesn't wind me up. It's "just" a great rock tune. Great meaningless industrial rock.
  11. Went to see both shows in Horsens. They didn't play UV the first night, but the second they did! This was the highlight from both shows! I could't hold back my tears when Bono stood just infront of me singing UV! This have always been one of my fav song since AB was released!
