  1. I know right!? The voice isn't like perfect but its amazing, the second verse is perfected unlike the first and majority of the second legs. It sounds fantastic having it on an official release audio quality. Bootlegs are great and all but theres something great about this one even with the torn voice. The pleading and sadness of the song is felt with Bono's delivery

    absolutely agree with you 100% the way Bono delivers the vocals is in my opinion the way its "supposed" to be delivered considering the emotion of the song and what the song is about if you get what i mean??
    his torn voice adds to the feeling and emotion of the song and is amazing!!

    I think individuals who complain about Bono's crackng voice during a show are relating it too much to studio version of a particular song - which is an unfair comparison. The studio takes away too many "human" elements in rock music. It's the reason why I very rarely listen to their albums anymore.

    This site as giving me literally hundreds of reasons (concerts) to listen to U2 for the next several years/decades without ever having to listen to War or Pop again.

    As for UV, it is indeed an emotional song and Bono's pleading songs much better live.

    exactly right!! thats what i LOVE about live music is the imperfections... sometimes studio versions are "too perfect" in a way...
  6. I'm one of those that dislike the Rose Bowl performance. Disclaimer first (bringing UV back is the best thing they ever did and it would have been a travesty had it never made it onto an official release).

    My dislike is Bono's delivery, particularly the first verse. I know it's meant to be reserved to allow for the big second verse but I think he is just too reserved, almost tired even and perhaps a little lazy. It is picky but it is my favorite song so. . . His voice breaking etc is no problem for me and as mentioned it often adds to a song. The Rose Bowl delivery sounds just a little lazy on Bono's part.

    i can understand where you're coming from... can be forgiven though because he's 2 hours into the gig by then instrumentally i think it's perfect too

    Almost. Wit it being perfect in the sound quality department, some of Edges guitar effects make me dizzy. Can't explain the sound but the riff when Bono starts the 'I remember when we could sleep . . .' has some effect on it that physically annoys me.

    Oh I think I know what you mean, LOL I hear it too. the annoying wah sound Id much rather have the sparkly zoo tv solo. >.< but idk thats a small difference to me, it doesn't make me love it any less.

    But yeah I wouldn't call it lazy I would call it tired and not in control of his own voice. His voice was cracked by then and i think that's why when he tried to sing the first verse it sounded really off.

    But yeah Idk I feel like the second verse was REALLY good (the lyrics were pulled off) and the actual band is amazing as usual, the way it was filmed was excellent (sans the overhead cam on top of the mike)
  10. i'd like to use the same disclaimer

    but i'll always prefer the zoo version over the 360 version for the following reasons. for starters edge should be using the explorer for this song. secondly i always miss the drum roll going into the "i remember" line and thirdly and most importantly i've never liked bono's delivery on 360. i don't like the way he sings the second verse in the higher register as it makes the song peak too early and secondly it sounded much better when he left the "ultravioo-lett"'s to edge and sang the "ooo-ooo"'s over them as they worked beautifully together.

    i know they are only small complaints but when you've been listening to zoo boots for the last 10+ years you get to love the small details and it seems wrong without them being there
  11. I for once am with Ric. I was there when they took the dust off Ultraviolet in Barcelona, and I had happy tears in my eyes just to see that song being played again... But I would have preferred living a Zoo-ish Ultraviolet arrangement. Anyway, the simple fact that they're playing it is awesome.
