1. Yes, it will only be released in 480p!

This is a great point - we shouldn't be so hasty to get mad at U2, guys - they're not the most wealthy band on the planet.

    Oh wait
  3. They've used a fucking Hubble's Telescopes to record it, and then They releasing it as a compresed pile of ... :p
  4. The weirdest part about this and the last few gifts to me is that it's obvious U2 don't really know or care what to give as a gift, when there are SO many easy answers locked away in their vault.

I would bet big money that the reason we haven't received "better" gifts is because U2 doesn't want to release stuff they don't deem to be perfect - which is a massive shame, especially considering these aren't "official" releases, they're just for the fans, fans that don't care if a bum note is played, or if the camera angles aren't the best, etc.

I can't help but look at this subscriber gift as a big middle finger to fans - because they know people will shell out the cash for the subscription/this gift, AND shell out the cash for the better-quality version that'll come out later on. And don't give me the "U2 are a business, same as anyone else" excuse. U2 has more than enough money to go around, and tout the "we love our fans" moniker as much as anyone else does - yet they don't have a lot to show for it.

If they really want to put out a DVD, there are so damn many DVDs they could be putting out for the gift that would please fans WAY more than this will (again, since we're all going to buy the (cheaper) blu-ray anyway), and for shows that only a DVD release would make sense for (there's no way they could put an old 1992 show on blu-ray because the quality of the film just isn't there to upscale it, etc.).

Maybe this makes me sound entitled, and I'll be following through on these feelings the only way I know how - to not subscribe to their fan site. The only reason I'm so passionate about this is because I'm so passionate about U2, and this just plain sucks the big one. Even the fact that you need to subscribe IN CASE they go on tour is bullshit to me. If they're not going to be going on tour this year, they should reduce the fee to subscribe, as that's the main thing that keeps fans subscribing.
  5. I don’t know what that means but I’m assuming it’s something to do with the 4K thing. I don’t think many people buy 4K DVD’s though or whatever they’re called . It could be released in 4k digital and can go on certain streaming sites in 4k, it could still be released in 4k physically but I can’t see them getting a great return from it. You always ask the question who buys DVD’s, I ask the question who buys 4K?
  6. I further that line of questions:

Good versions but not great value for money, I don’t collect vinyl so I traded that in and I’ve got the downloads anyway, would have kept them if they were cd’s. But you couldn’t offer me enough money to get rid of u22, from the ground up or last years gift unless I could easily find replacements cheaper. The non music gifts are also useless to me.

Lets not forget U23D is a repress of a very very available promo 12" from 1989 : I was seeing copies of the original for £1 in second hand stores a few years ago.
  8. Only collector spoons are worse.
