1. COURTNEY LOVE ANNOUNCES AN UPCOMING NIRVANA DOCUMENTARY
There may not be a Nirvana musical in the works, but Courtney Love is ensuring a future documentary on the band. Love is apparently working with filmmaker Brett Morgen, who directed a documentary on the Rolling Stones, on a Cobain-centric film to be released in 2014.

This is no new idea, with Morgen explaining in a recent interview that the film had been in the works since 2007. “Courtney is the one that brought me into this,” Morgen said. “We’ve been trying to find the right time to put this film together and the time is now… Kurt was not only an amazing songwriter and musician, he was an incredible artist and filmmaker. So we are going to do the movie sort of like a third-person autobiography — [as] if Kurt was around and making a film about his life.”

is she running out of cash and fame again?!

  2. Hopefully. She didn't deserve any of it in the first place.

Now what's the word on the In Utero reissue?
  3. nothing new rather than there could be a possibility for a anniversary celebration releases more or less like there was for Nevermind. but that it's sort of a rumors of months ago i guess.
Incesticide too is rumored for a remastered edition.

can't remember when the first "sure" rumor came out for Nevermind, first half of 2011 i guess!?
  4. I know there are direct links between PJ and SG (Temple of The Dog) and PJ and AIC (Mad Season) but are there any direct ones between SG and AIC? As much as I like the two bands, I've always ranked them #3 and #4, respectively, of the Seattle bands and haven't looked into it that closely.

For the record, I guess Mudhoney would be (a VERY distance) fifth. I don't know very much by them.
  5. I've remembered the answer to my own question about the direct link between SG and AIC..."Right Turn" from the Sap EP. Chris Cornell provided vocals to that track.
  6. who would have ever thought

Mark Lanegan "Dark Mark Does Christmas 2012"

  7. Where do you find these things, Ron?

(I'm aware that the obvious answer is "youtube" but...)

Nice to see that you give less famous Seattle bands like Screaming Trees and Mudhoney their due. Admittedly, I never really got into either of them - but I do recall their solid songs on the Singles soundtrack.
  8. Grunge Report is quite a nice one to follow for example.
all around twitter there's sort of a nice community too
  9. Mudhoney are very good punk-rock without any conceit other than do some good music to enjoy (Ramones doctrine ) .. for me they're the most emblematic band of grunge for attitude and spirit ... Mark Arm sort of a grunge guru hehe (one of the first who used that word and which has repented hehe)
live they're a real big blast

Screaming Trees, oh well, for me if they're not up to the other most recognized bands they're close enough.
Sweet Oblivion is absolutely a top level album, Uncle Anesthesia and Dust are very good follower in the rank.
and the voice of Mark Lanegan? absurdly awesome .. he can sing alone without making you realize there are not instruments. his, lets say, solo projects, are almost always a gem after another.

  10. It's interesting how Smashing Pumpkins and STP are also represented on that site. Faith No More, too!
  11. they've expanded the range of covered bands lately and they're thinking to rename the site in something like AlternativeReport
  12. not the best audio still a real amazing footage!
