It doesn't seem necessary when they already have 50 or 60 (!) songs!
If that number is really true (I've learned to take the way Bono hypes new albums with a BIG pince of salt), then they are in fact many times more productive then they've ever ever been. In my perception none of the albums really have more then say 5 or 6, or maybe 10 'leftovers' that don't make it to the final twelve.
Delay usually means 'overproduced' which means: smooth instead of raw, safe instead of daring, radiofriendly instead of transitional and exciting........ please don't "soften the edges" now, please don't let creativity and intuitivity smother in to much rationality

(sorry if i sound to pessimistic, let's hope they are really on a big creative wave right now and make a 2cd with 22 new songs...........)

He wasn't calling Bono a stupid little man, end of; he was referring to Bono's claim that he wanted ATYCLB to be an album of 12 singles, and the ideal album format is not built around 12 singles - such a thing is not feasible. One can have an album of 12 great tracks, but not all great tracks are singles .....

It has been done at least one time that I know of - and with great success. A christian group called 'whiteheart' did it with the 1992 album 'tales of wonder' - all but 2 of the songs made the top ten on christian radio and the album sold very well...unfortunately, I dont think the album has 'stood the test of time'.......but it is possible....
I am disappointented but not surprised with the delay of the new album....at least now whenit comes out I will have the money to get it.....
