1. just had a slight epiphany.

listening to Levitate and Smile....do you think these songs show a direction for the new album? I'm not thinking too much into it, but upon listening to Levitate it dawned on me that it is a bit "hand played but electro"

    any thoughts?

Levitate, to me, captures the essence of ATYCLB. I think this album will, like Achtung, be ahead of its time. Although if the new album were to be like Levitate, that would be awesome!

I think if it was anything like Levitate, as brilliant a song as it is, it would be another Pop. But hand-played electro? So think of it:

    Hand-played: Guitar, bass....
    Electro: Techno, beats...

So maybe it's gonna be a mix of Achtung Baby and earlier guitar/bass/drums stuff.
  4. has U2 ever done anything psychedelic?

yeah like I said I wasn't really trying to analyze just a brief thought about the style of the song

Not really. The closest to it would be something like Slug (Passengers) and was a large(ish) hint as to what would come next: Pop. Zooropa (the song, not the album) and Some Days Are Better Than Others could also be counted as being psychedelic with the different sounds.

yeah I would say no to that. Slug to me is much more of an ambient thing, in the largest stretch of the word I suppose some parts of Zooropa could be considered though. Never been a big of psychedelia, hence why I like U2 haha
  8. Imagine if their next few video clips had them driving around in Kombi vans...and swirly colours.

VW is the brand, kombi is the name of the car, the "model".
