1. C'mon have a little faith. Comparing U2 to Gunners is like chalk and cheese.

I like the idea of this 7 1/2 minute epic though. Last time they went anywhere near that was Lemon (6:58), Zooropa (6:32), All I Want IS You (6:31), Love Rescue Me (6:25) and Hawkmoon 269 (6:22).

All very good tracks except Love Rescue Me IMO.

  2. Genaro, Thanks a lot for the link to watch the vid!!!
    sounds great!!
I really can't wait to get home and give it a propper listen... I'm at the office now, and to do it here is very "risky"... haha!!

and finnally!!!! finnally!!! I really looooooved Edge's interview!! finnally some fresh and solid information about the upcoming album.....

so February then???? it's fine by me!!!
    cheers mates!!
  3. the fact that U2.com just posted that article leads me to believe that No Line will be the title, if they are comfortable enough to even hint at it then yes...and that video of Larrys. The short films are including more songs...something is happening soon, an announcement anyway

Definitely agree. The wheels are turning!

  5. so if it is coming out in February, which I'd say is most likely, at least by December if not by the end of the month we should know details and that would mean a single would be out in December if not January?

I think a single will be out about December 15th or so. Then, two months of releasing more singles, promoting the new album, etc, and then the album comes out in the first two weeks of Febreuary
  7. Would it be too bold to think that U2 will be releasing new material through this (RED) wire project? They are mentioned among bands set to use the world aids day fundraising music server. does anyone think that the new album will be released that way? Or maybe a single?

It sounds very logical to me... I think they might use it to release one or two singles...
it might be interesting, but I really hope it doesn't happen... since usually I can't buy the songs from LatAm...
  9. I'm thinking a few B-sides is what will be released on that service, which was my initial thoughts quite a while back when the service was first announced.

The album, hopefully, won't be released digitally only. Either it will be released physically with a digital counterpart or outtakes, live tracks and demos from the sessions will be released that way - which would be fine by me because the B-sides may not be that good, but money still goes to charity.

A lot of artists and record labels (Steamhammer SPV, Sony, EMI) are doing it that way, because for some reason, you'd be hard-pressed to find an album in the last five years with more than 12 or 13 songs. Some had 16 and some 19 - the last one I remember having 19 songs was in 2003 (a Greatest Hits compilation with...wow....one new song). However, the only reasons for digital distribution is to cut down on costs and offer availability of those songs 24/7. Easy to get to a mass audience and better for all parties concerned.

I'm still disappointed at U2 and Universal that Unreleased and Rare (from iTunes in 2004) never saw a physical release, only digital. Some great songs and only available digitally. Distributing those songs in poor quality was a real kick in the nuts, because you had to buy all 400+ songs to get those new songs for close to $250.

It almost seems too early to release even a single only a week from now when we haven't heard any official news yet. It doesn't seem likely...but who knows? The site does say they'll be broadcasting a new world premiere performance every hour at its launch. It's still a possibility.

    I second that.
