Will you quit already about the beach clips?! The beach clips aren't the new album. It's like comparing the Salome sessions to Achtung Baby.
That is an oversimplification, the Salome tapes were truly rough, snippets of songs in progress, as they were recorded with no mixing/production applied.
If you've listened to the Beach Clips they are obviously quite polished, complete songs, with a clearly 'produced' sound, not jam sessions on tape like the Salome recordings.
That's why I hope they radically changed the 'sexy boots' track, it didn't sound promising on the clips
It seems that the album was nearly complete, and due to be out in Nov 08, and then they decided to prolong recording because of recent musical breakthroughs.
Perhaps Eno learnt something from producing Viva La Vida, which Coldplay returned to after release, ending up with Prospekt's March. ie not to stop a band when they have 'recording momentum' because of a release date, as it is hard to regain that momentum after taking a break, and so is better to keep recording and let that momentum take you to different places musically.
