I know...but still, why wouldn't it be possible? U2 made AB and JT, so only U2 can top the work they once made.
  2. I don't think they'll ever make their 'best' album anyway,
because every album got its own personality, its own era, songs and history.
so it wouldn't be right, imo, to put an album atop all the others.

    they are all little masterpieces

Hmm, are we expecting too much now? Remember, the Joshua Tree made U2 "rocks hottest ticket" and Achtung was their famous "curveball" that was a success.

The Joshua Tree has With or Without You and Streets

Achtung has got One and Mysterious Ways

those are the mainstream songs mind you, there is so much more from these albums. to say U2 could make a song better than Streets or One is, is, its just prepostorous. there arent any stories behind the songs, or none that we know of, that could surpass any of the 4 songs mentioned above.

then again, U2 came out with COBL, which is probably their 2nd best song ever.

You forgot to mention that JT has "I Still Haven't Found"...

I know, but then again some people (some few, not many) think its not good and shouldnt be played on the next tour. to those, I say shame on you. to me, its their best song. it went from a reggae tune to a lovely rocker. how much better could you get?

    sorry 'bout the rant
  7. this album is going to be ridiculous. huge. transcendent. I think it will take their current "band centric" thing going but just blow it back into outer space so we should have such a treat, of course I don't know for sure but I really think it will be their best.

In my opinion it's not their best, but the reason I mention it is because whenever I've spoken to non-U2 fans, they always bring up at least one of Beautiful Day, Vertigo or ISHFWILF (sometimes One and WOWY, and on an even rarer instance, Streets, unless they happen to be particularly knowledgeable musical types), and since you were talking about public popularity...

God I hope not, the Chilli Peppers did that and people were saying that they did it because they're "big enough" to do it, and to me it smacks of arrogance and UOOA Syndrome (Up One's Own Arse...)...

But shit, that's my opinion! And we're all entitled to our own, hey? (apart from Casper 'cause he doesn't have PopMart...)

PS - thefly07, I really hope you're not losing sleep over this lol!

If the Peppers had put their best songs on one album, it would have been the best album for years.

When did they release Stadium Arcadium?
