  1. I listened to VLV from front to back for the first time the other day and loved the hell out of it.
  2. VLV is their last great album. MX had its good moments but fell way short and that's where the truly poppy crap started (Paradise, Teardrop, Princess Of China).


  3. Can't get over how good that song is - could very easily the best song since Fix You. Apparently the album features Beyonce on this song, so my opinion can still change.

  4. I agree that UP&UP is one of the best songs they released in a long time, so there is hope for this album.

    It was. I liked the intimate and minimal GS. Of the new songs that have just surfaced, the single is probably the only one I can actually listen to without feeling I'm getting an overdose of sugar. They're a talented band, but they've lost it!

    Oops meant Parachutes I knew that. Yellow and Everything's Not Lost are two of my favorites by CP. MX I don't really have an opinion for. It has its moments.

    I didn't start lurking in the Coldplayer community until MX was released, but I do agree that VLV started to sow a rift among the fanbase because it was a new direction compared to what came before, which was a lot of very, very much the same. MX definitely broke all hell in the Coldplay camp. But as much as there are differing opinions on their material, I definitely think most can agree that Coldplay has a very strong stage presence and Chris generally remembers most of his lyrics.

    “Hymn for the Weekend” came out of that process as a very different kind of Coldplay song. How did it start?

    The original kernel was that I was listening to Flo Rida or something, and I thought, it’s such a shame that Coldplay could never have one of those late-night club songs, like “Turn Down for What.” What would we call it if we had one? I thought I’d like to have a song called “Drinks on Me” where you sit on the side of a club and buy everyone drinks because you’re so f—ing cool. I was chuckling about that, when this melody came—“drinks on me, drinks on me”—then the rest of the song came out. I presented it to the rest of the band and they said, “We love this song, but there’s no way you can sing ‘drinks on me.’” So that changed into “drink from me” and the idea of having an angelic person in your life. Then that turned into asking Beyoncé to sing on it.

    Everglow ('Ballad') - coming in 4:42 (said to be a ballad), time info leaked by iTunes,

    Everglow is also to have guest vocalist Gwyneth Paltrow, and "Their two children will also appear as part of a choir, with other family and friend members (on various songs)"

    Adventure of a Lifetime ('You make me feel alive again')

    Fun (feat. Tove Lo) (rumored to be the same song lent to Natalie Imbruglia)

    Kaleidoscope ('1.31') (rumored to be the song with Obama and Guest House on it
    [ maybe it's this?] and Khatia Buniatishvili on the piano.

    Army of One/X Marks the Spot ('up tempo') (rumored to be 3.24, possibly a reference to Radiohead's 'You and Whose Army', and that X Marks the Spot may or may not be included in said time rumor) ('X Marks' also rumored to be after Up & Up, too)

    Amazing Day ('could make you cry') (assumed lyrics transcribed here)

    Colour Spectrum ('1 minute long') (rumored that the song is literally listed as the color spectrum on the back cover)

    Up&Up - features guests Merry Clayton, Beyonce, his kids, a Noel Gallagher guitar solo, with one from Jonny Buckland as well. Oh, and in case anyone was wondering - Brian Eno sings on this one too

  12. This converts to $95. I don't know how that would compare to a U2 stadium gig as my only stadium GA was 360 and I know I was paying way over what I needed to ($120, but $30 going to charity through Tickets for Charity). By comparison, my GA ticket for IE in LA was roughly $86 total.
