Coldplay stopped trying to make their Achtung Baby. So average band with average music.Last CD not worth to buy.Chis Martin talked about the end of Coldplay soon. Then we can stop this topic. U2start is about U2 isn't it?
Gave this album a scattered and non-concentrated listen today...not enough to form an opinion but also nothing really stood out (no "wow" moment). Will have more later.
I personally prefer their older works (first 3 or even 4 as people mentioned) - but I'm not a total basher either. To be honest, I really enjoyed Ghost Stories - I don't see it as "walking down the same road" as MX and I love how personal the lyrics are and how they as well as the themes and even melodies cover the many thoughts, feelings and mood swings of a separation (was going through one myself at the time, which probably helped).
The reason I categorized Ghost Stories as walking down the same road as MX is because the musical theme was a total departure from their style up to VLV. It's not so much that they sound similar, but rather they are different stages on Coldplay's journey to musically redefine themselves, at least that's how it looks like to me.
As of now, the songs I've been drawn to are AHFOD, Everglow, AOAL, Fun (kinda), and Army of One with Army of One and Everyglow being standouts to me. I have a feeling some of these songs have the potential to be incredibly vibrant in a live setting. I guess we'll have to wait and see though.
