1. The only song I'll really defend to the last is Everglow, mainly because it's got a very strong piano driven melody. As for the rest of them, it doesn't surprise me that people will find them to be boring.

This album is really a "we're not done yet" sort of album. Not in the sense that they're breaking through the walls and crashing Adele's party, but more in the way a notification pops up on the corner of your computer screen and you remember "oh yeah, that exists." Longer shows may be the greatest contribution this album provides.

Also, there have been rumors that this may be Coldplay's last album. Personally, I hope this is not the case because I really don't want them going out like this.
  2. Yeah cause its ratshit lol
  3. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a downright terrible album. I'd call it average.

    7/10
  4. I want to see how the Coldplay community is rating this one. I'm willing to bet the Oldplay fans are tossing and turning at the sight of it.
  5. The new album sounds for me as Mylo Xyloto part 2 maybe if they used the best songs of both albums with some songs of Ghost Stories if could have been a good album. But now i rate it very low low to commercial.
To be honest i am more a fan of their first albums after Viva la Vida I lost them a little bit

    Agreed.
    They're kinda forcing the joyfulness...
I absolutely loved to more sincere (and sometimes sad) vibes from Ghost Stories; wouldn't mind such another album.

Ghost Stories felt like their most genuine album. I found it very easy to latch onto.
  9. Also a fan of Ghost Stories. I agree that the new album isn't horrible - there are some good, or at least enjoyable, songs (the first two to some extent, the single, and perhaps a couple more here and there). Still: many songs really sound predictable, boring, uninspired... Coldplay at their most neo-Coldplayesque. MX part two, with a nice dance touch, a bit more maturity, a bit less noise - but still MX part two. (Unsurprisingly, I find part one entirely forgettable.)
  10. The big question for Coldplay now turns to their upcoming tour. The MX Tour was great and the Xylo bands added a lot to the whole experience. However, the tour ended on a somewhat questionable note with the entire South American leg cancelled for reasons that still aren't adequately understood. Some say the band was suffering from tour fatigue while others say the Xylo bands were financially sinking the entire thing. Regardless, it'll be interesting to see what approach they bring for this world tour.

I don't really want to bring in Ghost Stories for a tour comparison as they kept the number of shows incredibly limited and played in only small venues.

In a BBC interview they confirmed that they will do use the MX light bands again.
  12. Giving the album it's first listen now, 1st 2 songs were ok, but onto song 3 now and i want to skip it soo bad.
