1. Speaking of the whole Barca and Arsenal thing...

Which League is the best in the world?

    English? Spanish? or even Italian...?

I would have to say English, I might sound bias but there are good reasons for this .

Although the Spanish League is something special, nearly all of the goals scored are amazing

  2. The lot don't know what "defence" means.

  3. Yeah true, that's another reason for the Premiership being the best haa
  4. Seeing the Chicago Fire take on Paris- St. Germain tonight in Chicago. International friendly. Don't know too much about the Paris side though.
  5. Spanish league is probably the best, because the best players are here, the best teams play here and the best goals are scored here. Otherwise I like the English league a lot, the matches are always very hard-fought, I like watching them

But English teams enjoyed lare successes last years. Man.Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all reached the CL-final in the last decade. From Spain, it's only Barca and Real. Anyway, I think it's a tie between the two. I prefer English football but the Primera Division is always something special.

    yeahh

I think I think the Spanish league has the best players but the English teams have more great players and better teams, Liverpool didn't even make it into the top 4 and thats because Tottenham were so good, Aston Vill and Manchester City are also great sides.

Saying this the bottom half of the Premiership is pretty awful .
All the teams are simular standard which is very little compared to the top 8 teams...

    @LikeaSong:
Did you notice Borja Valero playing for Real Mallorca? He was meant to have had a good season and they finished 4th so I hear. He's on loan from West Brom and I hope we get him back now
  8. Yes, that's the main problem with the Spanish league, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the biggest teams and with a big difference. After them there are a big bunch of smaller teams (Valencia, Sevilla, Villareal, Mallorca, Atletico de Madrid......) that are always hanging around but rarely end up succeeding Anyway, the problem is more or less the same in the English, French, Italian, etc leagues, there are always 2-6 big teams that win everything.

PS. Josh, call me Sergio please!

And in Holland they all suck lol

  10. When I was younger (so much younger than today, as Mr. Lennon would say... LOL), I remember that AJAX was great, they was all over Europe (UEFA and Champions League)and so. What happened to them?

Sold their top players (Van der Vaart (Real), Sneijder (Inter), Heitinga (Everton), De Jong (Man.City), Maxwell (Barca), Zlatan (Barca), Chivu (Inter), Huntelaar (AC Milan) for example all played for Ajax) and instead they bought old players like Gabri, Oleguer and Rommedahl. They should focus on good scouting and their own youth. That was Ajax strenght, they're foolish now.

PSV was the most succesfull club in the last decade with reaching the semifinals in the CL. And Feyenoord won the UEFA Cup back in 2002. But there isn't that much money to be spend overall.

Could argue that Ajax's downfall started earlier than that. They were a true force in European football but back end of the 90's they lost a lot of talented players (Kluivert, Davids, Overmars, both De Boers, Van Der Sar, Rijkaard, Seedorf and probably more that I can't recall now. Since then it's been very hit and miss with no real sustainable team.

Yes, Ajax have probably one of the best youth setups in the world but when clubs come knocking with big money, a team in Ajax's position has little chance of persuading a big player to stay. The players that emerge through the talent pool into the Ajax first team have much better prospects elsewhere. If Ajax were as good as they were in the 80's/early 90's then they'd stand a much better chance of holding on to players.

It's a shame to see once giants in the game fall and it's even more of a shame to see new 'giants' emerge through the investment of incomprehensible sums of money.
