1. Very good match by USA, definitely deserved. Played scrappy D, had a lot of confidence, and put the ball away when needed.

Two upsets in this Confederations Cup? I hope so. Hopefully it will be like the 1980 Olympic hockey team's gold medal performance: a miracle not on ice, but on the pitch.

    USA ALL THE WAY!

    They can beat Brazil too
  3. Hopefully they will stun them , as they lost a few days ago 3-0. Didn't get to see the Brazil/ S. Africa game, but it seemed as if they played poorly based on what I read.

I was just looking into the future, tonight it's South Africa-Brazil
Winner of that will play against your team

Alright, I was just making sure, thanks
Well, Brazil won, so let's hope we can take 'em

  6. I hope not lol
Well, if we play against USA like we did today, we'll be in trouble.

  7. Uh oh, you and I just started a rivalry, I'm afraid
I didn't get a chance to see the game, was it that bad?

  8. yeah, maybe lol
Maybe not that bad, but not good at all, against Italy we were a lot better

  9. Oh, okay then. Well, may the best team win my friend!
  10. As a die-hard soccer fan in the USA I'm on my knees praying that they win this thing. It would bring so much more popularity to the sport. I know soccer in America is growing, but it will never keep pace with Europe. Many times on the news when there is a soccer game, they just report the score, showing 5+ minutes of a baseball game. For example, yesterday- the Cubs and Sox both played a baseball game, just a regular game and got a lot more TV time than the USA team that defeated the #1 ranked team in the world. The highlights were shown at the end of the Sports segment.

I know it will take light-years for soccer to click in this country, but I'm just hoping and praying that Sunday will give us a victory, and who knows...maybe we will actually see the USA on the front cover of the sports section instead of one of the middle pages next to an Olympic trial for women's weighlifting competition (in today's Chicago Tribune).

Sorry I like to ramble, I'm just an avid soccer fan- have been playing since I was 5 and have season tickets to my local soccer team of the MLS- the Chicago Fire, and have seen the USA compete many of times in person (including last game World Cup Qualifier vs Honduras).
  11. Too bad that USA ended up losing. They played world class soccer in the first half then came out absolutely flat in the 2nd half. I am proud of them going as far as they did, but I wish we won the gold.
