1. While I agree (and always have said it) that Messi is not the kind of clutch player to take the team on his back and carry it to win something, let's not forget that while Maradona had Valdano and Caniggia killing up front, Messi has had Higuaín who has missed totally clear chances to win 3 of those finals. Also, Maradona had Goicoechea making everybody forget his missed PKs in the World Cup while Romero hasn't been a factor in both PK defined finals.

Besides that, apparently Mascherano has also left the National Team and maybe Kun as well.
  2. i think you're pointing to the "wrong" Argentina .. 1990 and Maradona missed his penalty in quartefinal but scored his penalty in semifinal
in 1986 Caniggia and Goicoechea weren't in the team, which was much poorer than the recent years and they never went till penalties
Arg vs Eng 2 - 0 guess who scored (one with the help of dios but the other jeez the whole englis team are still looking for him)
    Arg - Bel 2 - 0 guess who scored the 2
Arg - Ger 3 - 2 guess who put Burruchaga to score the decisive goal at the very end of the match
he won that world cup almost alone

    i can't believe i support Maradona! hehehe

I wasn't trying to be specific, but still, my point is that while Burruchaga scored the one he had... Higuaín (and Kun yesterday) has had the winning goal at his feet in the last 3 finals, and he has wasted all his chances.
Maradona missed a pk like Messi did, but that WC Argentina won 35 pk series (with Goico being the main player), and this Argentina has lost both finals that way in the last couple of years.

I'm not questioning Maradona or arguing that Messi is anywhere near his level when it comes to leading and carrying his team, but I think history is being/will be rather unfair when it comes to judge the guy, and I do feel sorry for him.
  4. anyone go along brooklyn bridge to rescue Pato
  5. I think he's more upset because Messi may leave Argentina than the actual loss.

  6. it s true ..it was hard and sad really ...we don t deserve such this long bad luck

  7. I was close to do it

I think Messi is going to play again in our NT , He was angry and sad when he said that ...actually i think playing for Argentina and win something give him a lot of motivation ..the problem is the exaggerated critics he recieved every moment here ...anyone who knows few about football here talk and say things about him , almost always stupid things , so that tired everyone and when you don t win , i m sure Messi is the saddest man in the world and instead to understand him , here everybody critics him ...completly madness
  8. In hindsight, I see Messi's declarations just as a way to relieve the pressure on Argentina's side. Now everyone is talking about that and not about the fact that they lost. If he did that intentionally, then it was quite clever.

    About Maradona :

I know you love him Ronnie ...he was great , but he had some advantage vs Messi

The team in 1986 classify to the WC with very trouble , almost in the last minutes of the classification .... then nobody expected nothing with that team , so they didn t have pressure to win ...they have lucky with the draw ( S. Korea, Bulgaria , Italy, Uruguay , England , Blegium and Germany ) During the play off no big teams ( sorry english friends , but that team wasn t great) except in the final ...i think that team couldn t beat that France or Brazil
After1986 , when Maradona graduated as the best player in the world , he didn t played like he did it before again in the NT ..We failed with embarrassment games in Copa America 1987/1989 and The WC in Italy 90 Diego didn t play well ..he did almost nothing in a really poor team ( only one beatiful assistance vs Brazil )

Messi is playing in maybe the best NT in the world , and since his debut he must win every, match and every cup , even every friendly game ...he became the best player in the world and he is actually and keeps the form for years , giving us the chance to play many finals . The last 3 finals with many problems with injuries , in key players like Di Maria and that weakened the team ..Messi always played well in the NT , sometimes better than others , but the pressure that has Messi , Maradona didn t have until he won the WC and then never again did important things for Argentina

I thought something like this too ...i dont know , he didn t deserve our ( argentinians ) madness about football , really

  11. actually i don't
he played for Napoli, not exactly the team i can sympathize with
similar case as Van Basten, i can say he's the best Dutch player, Crujiff is off the league, but i can not love him
  12. Ibrahimovic --> Mou Utd
    what a "surprise"
