My guess would be that "The Unforgettable Fire" (album) would be next to be remastered and that "Wide Awake..." would be included with the bonus for that Deluxe Set as 3 of the 4 tunes on WAIA were B-Sides to "The Unforgettable Fire" (single),
But judging by your post, it appears that your post was more rhetorical and cynical than a genuine question.
I could go on... point by point... but the short answer is - YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT.
Of course, if U2 didn't remaster the albums, there would be comments about them NOT having the best quality version out there. And if they didn't make the 'bonus' material available, others would complain as to WHY hasn't U2 released these things.
How do I know this? I've read various forums over the years and what U2 are doing with the remasters are EXACTLY what many fans have begged for - quality remasters, nice updated packaging and many of the vinyl B-sides on CD - finally.

I've seen more people buying these remasters than ever before, but my question is why a live album - that sounded pretty good in the first place which is my argument - but it does fill out the entire UABRS package rather than just re-releasing a video with some extra tracks, as some will say (like me). I can't even find half of the singles anymore second-hand or import; so if they do release those as a bonus CD, then I'm all up for that.

I'm waiting for the Achtung - Zooropa - Pop set to see what they pump out with that.

Do we have the same album? My UABRS doesn't sound that good compared to today's standards. I don't really see why they shouldn't remaster this one. We got great results with the Mexico and Sydney releases, so I think UABRS is totally worth it.
That release gives you every possible choice: buy the package, buy the CD only, buy the DVD only, buy nothing. Nothing to complain about, imho.

So you can buy just the DVD? Sounds like a plan.

Some people about Zoo Sydney said the results were pretty poor because they were transferred from old tapes - they looked darn good to me.

I just find releasing a live album pointless with only eight songs. And the same goes for Vertigo Milan with ten songs. Why bother?
The last few releases (Mexico, Sydney, Milan, Chicago, Boston...not Slane) have terrible sound. It alternates from one channel to another and is turned up and down at any given time and sounds like it's recorded through a tin. The 5.1 mixes are no better - they sound rubbish.
Imagine a bootleg of only three-stars. That's what some official releases sound like.

You think? I think the sound on Mexico and Sydney is great. Especially the dts on the Sydney DVD is really good imo. Boston is another thing, though...
