Jeez, you're from Iran?that IS a long ways away!

Since you asked, here's my little U2 story.

How I got into U2 (The Epic tale! lol)
My first brush with U2 was when I was like 7 or 8, I just didn't know it. My Mom had the soundtrack to the movie Runaway Bride(I think that was it) and I Still Haven't Haven't Found What I'm Looking For was on the soundtrack, and Mom would play that song all the time, and I remember liking the song.

Then, about two summers ago. my mom and I were renting a movie on Comcast, and they had an ad for this U2 special you could rent on demand, and my mom said something along the lines of "Oh my gosh, BONO!!!!!" and I was like "Who the heck is he?" and she explained he was the lead singer of U2, which was this apparently this amazing rock group that got big in the 80's, and is still going strong. She told me how Bono did a lot of work in Africa, and was a "pretty darn good person" Later that year, on my birthday, I got an iPod Nano (Which I love very much!) and I got an iTunes gift card along with it. One day while I was on iTunes, mom said I should get some U2, "because they're awesome". I didn't have much money left, so I just bought two songs: Vertigo and With or Without You. I listened to Vertigo, and I was like "I've heard this song!" then I listened to With or Without You, and I was freaking amazed, the song was (and still is) beautiful, I absolutely loved it. A few weeks later, vh1 showed the Zoo TV live from Sydney concert, and I liked up until Macphisto came out. I'm a LOT more open-minded now, but at the time, I didn't notice the horns, I just saw the face paint and wondered why Bono was dressed up as a clown.(I have to laugh at myself sometimes, because now i freaking LOVE Mac) After that, I didn't really think about U2 until I was in Best Buy with my mom, and she saw the Joshua Tree album and asked me if I had liked the U2 songs I got. I told her yes, and she informed little ignorant me that the Joshua Tree was this huge, HUGE album they had back when they were starting to get REALLY famous. Not only that, but it was a really good album too. So she offered to buy it, because she hadn't listened to it since she and dad threw out their records (Something they both regret apparently)Free music for me is always good, so we bought it. We listened to it on the car ride home, and I thought Streets was awesome, and was shocked when ISHFWILF started playing. I loved the rest of the album, especially Exit, I LOVE that song. Bullet the Blue Sky took awhile to catch on, but now I lurve it. Been a huge U2 freak ever since.

If only THAT was a writing prompt in my English class lol

Thanks, nice to meet ya both!
Yeah, I've learned to stop worrying about how my friends think, because if I hadn't discovered U2 (Or music in general) I'd probably be a lot more annoying and oblivious.

Hannah Montana is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus (The guy who sang Achy Breaky Heart) and at the moment is a Disney sponsored Pop singer. Little kids and some Pre-teen and Teenage girls like her. She's everywhere you look over here in the States, and she's rather annoying. There are also the Jonas Brothers, which are backed by Disney .They're even more annoying than Hannah Montana, because they're like the second coming of Hanson. All the girls I know are like "Ehmagod they're like, the three hottest guys ever!" and I'll say "No, that'd be Bono, The Edge, and Larry Mullen Jr.!" Then they're left scratching their heads wondering who the heck am I talking about. It's kind of funny actually.

Surely even nomads on the plains of the Sahara, or the Inuit have heard of the B-Man He's like the MacDonalds arches...

That's a great story! That's almost exactly how I got into U2 as well--i borrowed my mom's old cassette tapes (not quite records!) of Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum, and when I heard Exit, i was absolutely hooked.
