I think Pride is probably the one I'd rather they didn't play as much on the basis that he usually CAN'T reach the high notes lol. During the early years, no problem, but ZooTV onwards every time he sings "in the NAAAAAAAAAAAME of..." I'm ashamed to say I do cringe because he just can't push his voice up there.

That said, I wish I had his vocal range lol. WGRYWH is my favourite song, but I can't hit the chorus notes in that octave, but when I drop down one it sounds so much more mellow and lacking in oomph

Re. suggestions for songs - So Cruel. God knows why though And you say they don't play most of their first 3 stuff, but the well known War stuff does get around and Boy came back in full force over the last tour...but I know what you mean
  2. All the evidence is there currently that Bono's voice is the richest it's been since Zoo. In which case, things may make a return. But I doubt even if we did hear things like TUF live again, they'd be occasional rather than every night (to give him a rest).

But I agree that Ultraviolet, Acrobat, WILATW, So Cruel, IYWTVD, Discotheque could make it back. Someone of Edges genius can find or at least replicate (improve?!) the sound I'm sure.

    Could? Should! lol.

Don't think so, which makes you wonder what goes through his head...damn Pop era - "I like what it's doing to my voice..."
  6. I would love to see Ultraviolet come back. I read a quote from Edge saying there's a lot of songs that he can't remember how he made the sound he created in the studio. That sounds like something I would do.

    "COOL! How'd you do that?"

    "I don't remember."

Yeah same here, ALTHOUGH I've now got a pedal which saves all the tones I do come up with, so I'd just have to flick through there to find it lol (and it's got a fairly good bank of stuff to switch through, I found a tone that actually sounds like a fairly acceptable replica of Mysterious Ways! - plus I like to use the same effect for most stuff I do play so no worries half the time lol)

He has officially quit around 2000, yes. Don't think it's real, tho. He must smoke each time he goes to a party, etc. "Social-smoker", on spanish.
  9. So who all currently smokes in the U2 camp? I know Adam quit. Probally when he stopped drinking.
  10. The average U2 show is 21-24 songs. They usually want to play at least 7-8 new songs. This leaves 14-16 spots open.

They've mentioned that most go to 'one' show and do expect to hear certain things. In that, NYD, SBS, Bullet, I Will Follow, Pride, Streets...

The band have said that they don't vary the sets as much due to 'production' elements. Lighting, video, etc. And that could certainly have been an issue with the ZOO - Popmart tours. But now, I think there is room to experiment.

That said, it'd be cool if they did vary the sets more. Play I Will Follow one night and Gloria the next. Play Sunday Bloody Sunday on night and Bullet the next...

If they had a few songs revolve a bit... it could be cool and leave a spot for Hawkmoon 269 or God Part II or Acrobat... things we've not heard often and/or in ages at U2 shows.

There could be the ZOO encore of ZOO Station, End of the World and Acrobat one night and the POP encore of Mofo, Gone and Please the next... things like that.

U2 by U2 - Paul McGuinness said it used to be just Adam and himself, but now it's Bono, Edge and Larry who are the smokers. Silly buggers...
