No, but should I come up with it I'll let the whole bloody world know! I'm fairly sure the verse is just playing around Bm and D, but I've not perfected it yet...

EDIT - probably better to follow Jeremy's advice than my own lol...

Yeah, thing is I start with chords and work my way up. Takes a long time...sounds very amateur I know. I actually prefer playing it on the acoustic...

For the verse, I usually just palm mute the chords lol. I should have said "I'm not sure, but it sounds like it's using Bm" lol. I shouldn't have made myself out to be so assertive lol...

Doesn't sound amateur, that's usually the way to go. Especially if you're doing it by ear...

Ah good stuff. Thing is, no one else I know does stuff by ear, it's really (other than my bro' and dad, but bro' doesn't like U2 - silly bastard - and dad doesn't play guitar, but piano, accordion and violin, and isn't interested) just me

If I'm trying to pick something up by ear, I usually start with the root of the chords (read=bassline) on the low E string, then jump up to chords, and then most of the time the riffs are hidden in those chords (or at least in the scales of each of those)

I usually play around first with either A,C,D,E or G because they're what I've found to be the most common chords (and quite commonly U2). I also sometimes rely on recognition of keys etc. so I'll hear a note, think "that's the same as *a similar melody in a certain key*" and try in that key, and 75% of the time (obviously I've got no stats on it lol BUT) it's fairly accurate.

    Again, more ramblings lol...

Cheers Jeremy, although I've already posted a link to my acoustic cover of Stay (and it's a landmark because I actually sing on there too, which I don't often do - recordings wise anyway...)

I hadn't forgotten....I meant more of your upcoming stuff, but you know. Hopefully once I get back from my travels this coming week I'll be able to post something myself.

Sounds good, yeah I'm working on various stuff - covers are fine, but I'm having a real block where working on my own material is concerned. I've got some chord progressions to work on, but nothing else in the way of lyrics or riffs etc.

Where you going this week? Anywhere good? (slightly off-topic but hell, my topic I'm hijacking lol )
