Sounds good, yeah I'm working on various stuff - covers are fine, but I'm having a real block where working on my own material is concerned. I've got some chord progressions to work on, but nothing else in the way of lyrics or riffs etc.

Where you going this week? Anywhere good? (slightly off-topic but hell, my topic I'm hijacking lol )

Up to Portland/Seattle for the week. It's about a 15 hour drive, but we're splitting it into two days, then I fly back a week from Sunday.

Crikey, rather you than me, I always want to sleep on lengthy car journeys and can never quite grasp how m'parents manage to stay awake all the time. Driving up to Scotland last year to go to a gig, just me and Dad in his Land Rover, we were on the road for 10 hours straight, and he didn't blink an eyelid...

Turning on the volume of some good U2 will keep you awake...

Ha, you'd think that would, but music + travelling sends me to sleep even more so! I'm always dropping off on the train home from Norwich (and when it's a half hour trip, it can be dodgy in case I miss my stop lol) because I have Joshua Tree lulling me off to another place lol...

JT is the wrong album to play while fighting against the oh so welcome sleep. Turn on Electric Co. from any TUF-show

Naah..real tips are talking (when together) and fresh air. A friend of mine almost got himself and 3 others killed when he fell asleep while driving home late at night. He just woke up in time to control the slipping vehicle.

Yeah, I agree about the fresh air thing but when I'm having lessons etc., I find it incredibly distracting when my instructor starts conversation lol. I took the wrong exit off a flipping roundabout because he asked me whether I thought Norwich would stay up this season lol...not fun...

Hahaha...you were shocked, weren't you? I also hated conversations while I learned to drive, because you're so focused and concentrated. But it dissapeared when I got my license and gained more trust. My instructor always talked about the football of the last weekend before going over to the random stuff. The next lesson, he totally had forgotten what he had said before, so he repeated 70% of what he had said earlier that week/month.

lol yeah, it seems like we recycle conversations alot - my knowledge of the Highway Code etc. is still not 100% on the money, but I'm fairly sure that if someone gave me a licence tomorrow, I could go out and about without causing an accident lol. I probably would find it easier driving on my own without having to consider there being someone else around lol! People always say it, but the more I drive the more you understand when people say it's a confidence thing - the smallest incident where I get something wrong and I can get really flustered, although these days I'm much more confident. The thing is, I guess you have to get to a standard to pass your test and then once that's done, you have nothing to worry about apart from speeding and drink driving lol (and other wankerish drivers) because no one's going to mark you down if you don't reverse around a corner correctly by then lol...

Exactly! It's like one big show, where you are the main actor. You're supposed to drive and behave perfectly, controlling all aspects of driving. I dispised it...

For you, it's just about that test and license..once they're in, you're ready to rumble! (safely though )

I honestly can't see myself as the aggressive driver type lol, like crazy driver unless it's doing something inexplicable like stopping at an empty roundabout lol...

I sometimes can get frustrated though, depends on the mood I'm in
