1. They should try exploring something they haven't done in a while - rock. That'd be a good start!

Not that everything they've done this decade is bad...the last three albums have had a few decent songs on them but it sounds more pop than anything. If they're not careful we could be seeing the Irish version of Aerosmith eventually - making popular 'pop' music but forgetting to actually rock.
  2. I can't say that Achtung Baby is rock. Joshua Tree isn't that rock either. HTDAAB is more rock than these two.

I meant Boy, October and War. Not later stuff. Go in a studio for three months, record whatever comes out and see how well it does. Because as we've seen, going in various studios for three years, recording stuff that landed on NLOTH and putting that out clearly doesn't work.

"We're not promoting anything," he [Edge] contends, referring to the early emphasis on last year's No Line on the Horizon. "These concerts are everything we have to give -- our past, our future, where we're at today."

This was the 'Bono says we have four projects going' news article. It sounds to me like they hate NLOTH from this. Disowning it, sadly.
  4. I don't think they hate it, they just noticed that the GENERAL audience isn't that big of a fan of it so they decide to play more popular stuff.

    And thanks, but I don't need a nother Boy/October/War.

Good points. I'd love another record in the style of those three albums. Yeah they've matured since those years but take some inspiration from them.
  6. Ok, they said the dance or rock album would be released in time for the US leg of the tour next year.

But did they mention when they'd release Songs of Ascent?

And I think they could make a decent dance album (if it isn't a great club album it'll at least make an interesting rock album) provided they keep Bono in check, ie. no GOYB, Elevation, SUC style cringeworthy lyrics.

Would like him to sing in a different voice for it as well, not the usual 2000s Bono, something much harder to recognise so people might actually be tricked into liking a U2 dance song.
Thinking along the lines of Pop, like how he sings Discotheque, Mofo or that fantastic 'radio, video' verse in Pop Muzik. Or even Salome (Zooromancer Mix) or Lemon, but I don't think he has the voice to do anything like that any more unfortunately Especially now he's back to smoking.
  7. I think they'll release 1 album with a mix of those ideas on it. I can't see u2 releasing 4 albums, this just sounds like a lot of talk, probably coming from the same place as the whole "we want to redo the Boy album!"

  8. The final result of the postponing will be the same shows in similar dates, but a re-worked show with tons of new songs...
Well, I'd choose my concerts to be postponed if that is "the price"

Based on this coment, I think it's awesome U2 playing here in Brazil in March next year

But, I'm going to attend NYC anyway

Just let's hope they bring something new till December or January

  10. I swear I saw a poster today as I was passing for Australian dates, not sure if it was 2010 or 2011 but I know it said December 1. I will be sure to check it out if I see it again.
