    Anyway, talk about being OT. U2 is starting to wear me out, which is why I've not been around so much this week. Staying away from this weekend's shows, too, only checking in afterwards to see the set instead of following it live. Gotta try to work that excitement back up- following every single live show isn't going to do that.

As at the Capetown shows, the tour had grossed $519,599,484, and at the end of the tour in 2011 should have done somewhere around $750,000,000 - €9 million is going for charity (not sure if this is at 2009, 2010 or 2011 end) at the minimum as well as the venues making $150,000 per show - again, I'm not sure whether the band gets a cut of that.

    Yeah I feel you. I've stopped following the live shows really, going through a JT phase right now. I think I might ignore setlists up until the concerts I'm attending in June. This tour has been going on so long that I'm not nearly as excited as I was a year ago, when I still thought I was seeing them THAT summer. The whole postponement thing was a huge bummer, and a buzz kill. Obviously I really felt bad for the B-man and everything, and I know they probably realize how much of a ravine it's thrown on the tour, but yeah, it's just really lame. Hopefully the shows offer something different when they get to North America.

    Also have my fingers crossed for an Achtung Baby remaster this year. Super Deluxe set with the Outside Broadcast feature on Blu-Ray would be UNREAL.
  5. As Ale said on the other topic, U2 just met with President Dilma a few hours ago in Brasilia.

    At the meeting, Bono talked with Dilma about poverty, politics and he said he's very sad about the yesterday's incident in Rio de Janeiro, where a guy got into a school and killed 12 kids in a premeditated act.

    Now they're heading to Sao Paulo (or just arrived here)...

    In one of the few measurable victories Ireland gets over Great Britain, U2 recently surpassed the Rolling Stones’ record for highest-grossing tour of all-time with their U2 360° Tour. Erin, go Brag!

    England’s oldest hitmakers previously held the record after raking in $558 million from 2005 to 07 for their A Bigger Bang Tour, but U2—who are still touring behind their 2009 release No Line On the Horizon—are set to take in more than $700 million by the time U2 360 wraps in late July. With 26 shows to go, the Irish quarter are almost ready to get back to saving the world/destroying Broadway.
    Lead guitarist aside, U2 has an edge on the Stones when it comes to pulling in the Euros/dollars/reais on this tour: the band’s current “in the round” setup (U2 360°—get it?) has allowed them to pack more fans in each arena.

    That doesn’t mean U2 360° has been immediately more profitable than the Stones’ tour, however. U2’s manager admitted that the overhead cost for this endeavor is about 750,000 U.S. dollars a day, show or no show.

    A huge part of the cost is “The Claw,” a traveling stage apparatus that looks more suited to the first wave of the alien invasion than directing attention to that guy singing “it’s a beautiful daaaaayyyy!” Get a sense of its mammoth size in this video:

    The Claw takes four days to set up each time, which forces the band to use three of these insect-like monstrosities on the road. At any point during the tour one is in use, another is being built, and yet another is being deconstructed and moved to the next location.

    During this monday, Bono spent the day with the ex-president Lula and the Minister of Economics Guido Mantega.

    Midia reported that was Bono's wish to talk with both. At the meetings, Bono talked about poverty and ways to fight against it, specially in Africa.

    Swizz Beatz is reaching stadium status on his second album Haute Living. The producer-rapper landed a coveted collaboration with U2’s Bono and Kanye West for a track called “Skyscrapers.”

    While promoting his partnership with Reebok, Swizzy revealed the all-star cut. “It’s me, Bono, and Kanye on this one song called ‘Skyscrapers,’” he told Paper magazine. “I recorded with Kanye in the studio and then I recorded with Bono in this actual studio right here.”

    Haute Living has already spawned the Eve-assisted single “Everyday (Coolin’)” and “Rock ‘N’ Roll” featuring Lil Wayne, Lenny Kravitz, and Travis Barker. Other guests include Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, and John Legend. But the songs are no ordinary collabos. “They’re on the album in super amazing ways,” said Swizz. “It’s not like a compilation—it’s a nice mixture of creativity. I had no boundaries with it.”

    it seems strange how bono will fit on this album tho...
