I'm still stunned at how little we've heard about this and it's coming out in 6-7 months...maybe they don't want to say anything before as to not create any hype.
I agree - although they said at the end of 2011 that they'd be back in the studio around February 2012 - and they already had some songs / material etc. So we kind of knew they were intending to work, and that they weren't starting from scratch. The really good news is that they - Edge and Larry! - seem to be happy enough with their work so far to calmly say that an album might come out before the end of the Summer. They're not just saying 'we're working on it'. I hope things will proceed as calmly and surely! (They might have found the right producer: the U2 team needed some shaking up after (the excellent, but single-free) NLOTH - some fresh energies.)
Wow! Great! Kind of weird to be hearing this from larry and edge first...I cant stop imagining they have put Bono in some remote locked up basement to shut him up!!
we really NEED a new U2 album this year, it has been FOUR years since NLOTH... the band has to realize this ahah. I'm optimistic for a new album but I just doubt them
I hope U2 has learned their lesson about hyping songs up long before the release date. Do you remember on the last few albums how we would hear a soundbite about how great GOYB, MOS or Magnificent are? Articles about how Get on Your Boots is AMAZING were out and about the summer of 08, and MOS since like 07. By the time the album was released the world expected too much from the hype imo. I hope this time we just get A SONG DROPPED and a release date without any proper hype. Look at the Strokes, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Justin Timberlake this year. We haven't heard any real details about the album and that makes it that much more exciting.
