    Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I read in a mag that Eno worked with them for this album. That would definitely be one reason why its a big U2-ish.

  4. I think Coldplay really has something spot on here. Sure, they sound a but like U2, but wouldn't you're band be if they were a major influence on what you play/write?

    They're trying to make this album political, down to the cover.

    Violet Hill's video is a perfect example, as seen here.

    Viva la Vida in a way is trying to connect the life of Napoleon III to any head of government of anywhere, who has/had approved of troops in a foreign land. It shows the problems with power, and how people view those with power. And that, if a bad decision is ever made, there are people out there who judge harsely.

    Coldplay listened to War again, didn't they?
  5. I know I've stated this countless times in many "Coldplay vs. U2" conversations here, but I have no problem with them at all. I love their sound. You can say they're ripping off U2, but I don't hear it. I personally love their sound.
  6. I really like coldplay and I'm very glad they decided to let go of that x&y direction, cause I really hated that.As long as they don't try to be u2 - wich I don't think they are - its ok for me.
    your influences end up appearing in you songwriting somehow, and thats were the similarity comes from, imo.
    btw, this video isn't the official one. I guess they also like the ideia of more than one video per single...
