1. Are any of the only three performances of this song worth a listen? I've liked the album version since I first heard it and got really curious when I found out they did in fact perform it back in '93, even if only three times.

    Cheers,
    Jim
  2. London 1993-08-12 is great, but Zooropa begins only in the part of "And I have no compass...and I have no map, etc.".
    Do you have complete show?
If not, I can upload Zooropa for you
    C-U.
  3. i have a full live version of it from the night before this show from welmbley 1993-08-11 and its really cool

  4. Thanks for the replies!

I just went and got the 8-11-93 London ZooTV show, and it is excellent! The recording is rated at 2 stars but it sounds like soundboard material. Anyway I thought Zooropa might have had the piano intro live but instead starts off with the funky guitar. Edge's backup vocals make this song awesome for me here. I suppose they weren't happy with the live arrangements of this and Babyface, but they're both still really fun to listen to, even more so considering how rare the performances are. Definitely another must have bootleg, just for those two songs alone.

    Cheers,
    Jim
  5. I went on the second night 1993-08-12,and remember them playing Zooropa during soundcheck ( listening outside whilst waiting to go in) as if it was yesterday.I thought they played it well during the show,Babyface too.
  6. Zooropa is my favourite song! I love the live versions!
  7. BOOM!

Would be a shame for all the discussion of the momentous event to get lost in the Brazil topic. Odd band. They do my head in for 10 years then pull out my 2 favourite songs on one tour (UV and Zooropa). I still hate them for Leave Behind and Bomb but they just pulled out a trump card with these two.

Congratulations U2 for putting yourself on the road towards where I want you to be.

pretty much exactly how i feel mate!

i know i've i've got a reputation round here for criticising them all the time for their neglect of certain things but this is all they ever needed to do to placate me. when i watched the video of zooropa from last night all i could do was smile massively. it reminded me of how i used to feel 15 years ago about the band and proved to me that they're still capable of making me feel that way!

as for my critique of the performance - i can't criticise it in any way, i mean obviously i'd rather they played the full version but this truncated version works in it's own right. everyone sounded great though! i wouldn't have been surprised if they'd made some annoying changes to try and 'update' it in some way but they stayed totally true to the original song and pulled it off perfectly. bono and larry sounded especially good. the drums could've been off the album and i always thought bonos voice sounded exceptionally good and different on this song and it was no different last night.

my ONLY slight criticism would be the light show. in the first half it was perfect but it stayed too similar for the second uptempo section. i thought it was great the way the band was in total darkness in the first section but the stage should've burst into light in the second section i reckon. still plenty of time to work on it though!

my final thoughts are firstly - they HAVE to play this at glasto!!!!! and secondly i really hope it has somehow triggered something in their heads and reminded them of their past and the music they used to make and how amazing it was. and thirdly all they have to do is play something from pop (preferably mofo or LNOE) and all will be forgiven

    another video:

  11. I've got the London 1993 version mentioned here. I think the same version is a YouTube video.
  12. B4 the tour started back up last year people were joking about new songs getting played and others like HM,TH,KM,KM , EBTTRT and Zooropa being brought back. I never thought it was possible, but now i feel like anything is possible with these guys! Maybe The Fly isnt wishful thinking after all
