Seriously, Jenny Was a Friend Of Mine, Mr. Brightside, even ATTTID have more interesting guitar parts than WYWY. I simply don't understand. Love the song- but in terms of a "Guitar Hero" song? I can't believe they missed out on the opp. to include Mr. Brightside, there.
Mr. Br. is the very only song that might better WYWY in terms of guitar job... But WYWY is much more epical, the solos are fucking great, the whole atmosphere is... Wow, I can't describe it well enough. When You Were Young is a big big epic song. It has a similar effect in me than Where The Streets Have No Name, I sometimes even cry while listening to them, they're fucking great.
  2. anyone else think "Why Do I Keep Counting?" might well be their best song?

  3. completely underrated? yes. best? probably not. it is probably the one I listen to the most on Sam's Town.
  4. It's great, no doubt, and Brandon vocals are surprisingly strong and in-tune... But I woulnd't consider it among my 10 favorites at all. Moreover, it has a "All These Things" scent that makes it special, but also less original. It's among their 20 best, but not in the top 10 in my opinion. Just my two cents of course
  5. What about Where Is She (or "Soft Surrender" as I've seen they call it too) ? Do you know it? It's a scary little great tune, from which we only have a live version (from their early years, pressumably)... If you don't know it, take a look:

A police car, was outside your house today
I havent seen you, in a couple of days
They knocked on your door, and then they went away
Your mother looked scared, but she didnt cry
    She didnt cry

On one hand, I've got myself to blame
But on the other, it's always the same
Follow suit shake your head, tell me that its alright
I don't you to be dead, but I want you to die
Without a good friend, or a sunshine
I know I want survival, but you dont why

    Where is she?
    Where is she?
    Where is my baby girl
Oh I've seen you, your crazy
What have you done with my whole wide, world?

On one hand, I've got myself to blame
But on the other, it's always the same thing
Follow suit shake your head, tell me that its alright
I don't you to be dead, but I want you to die
Without a good friend, on a bad day
Without a soft surrender, but what do you say?

All of these tears that we've cried
All of these tears that we've cried

    Where is she?
    Where is she?
    Where is my baby girl
Oh I've seen you, and your crazy
What have you done with my whole wide, world?

    Where is she?
    Where is she?
    Where is my baby girl
Oh I've seen you, your crazy
What have you done with my whole wide, world?
What have you done with my whole wide, world?
    What have you done?

What do you think? I love it, even though it's fucking sad and scary
  6. ^ they need to release some of their earliest songs, like the one you posted, Desperate and Replaceable.
  7. I wonder why they didn't include (re-recorded or not) on Sawdust

  8. I always took it as like, robots, mechanical, "dancer" (what have you)...instead of being plugged in all the time, or what Flowers seems to be referring to as "dancer", we are human. (Or are we?) Cutting the cord is making the transformation from dancer to human.

I think dancer is like the whole robot-going-through-the-motions type of thing. Cause "Are we human? Or are we robots?" is just sickeningly bad lyric in my opinion. I hated the use of the word dancer at first, but now I like its abstractness.
  9. Brandon refers the "Are we human or are we dancer?" lyrics as taken from some American writer who criticised nowadays' values and life-style saying "We're raising a generation of dancers".

  10. I read somewhere that one of the members thought they weren't of the same quality as the songs that made the album(s). I love them, though.

still, you never know what might turn up someday
  11. Incredible!!

Was one of those lyrical phrases that, the first time I heard, I literally could not. stop. smiling I lovvvve it so much.

Oh my God, I love that song and that lyric I don't know what it is about it, in fact, most of the time I don't understand why I love the Killers. They don't always make sense, but they have this quality about them that's just wondrous.
