If you watch the clip carefully you can see the Ashdown. It's easy to spot as Ashdowns have the little light with the VU mater.Plus you can hear the difference between the Aguilar and Ashdown.Ashdowns are a bit more grindy with the Aguilar it's a much fuller and rounder tone.I love the Ashdown/Aguilar combination with the Precision.
  2. Edge really let lose with the slide guitar on this album.
  3. Keep in mind that some of that might be Danny Lanois too. But combined or all Edge - the slide bits are great!

I love the pitch shift stuff and odd effects from the POG.

And all the gritty distortions and overdrives, courtest of various Death By Audio, Z-Vex and Line 6 units.

Ah yes... in drum world... Larry's use of the Roland V-Drums is cool too. If I only had $5K to get the same model...

    * where did I put that lotto ticket *
  4. Night # 3. "I'll Go Crazy (If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight)":

The Edge: Gretsch Country Gentleman (walnut finish)

Adam: Fender Precision bass. Gold sparkle with red tortoise-shell pickguard / Aguilar cabinets (Aguilar amp too, me thinks)

Larry: Yamaha Oak Custom drum kit (silver sparkle finish)
  5. Haven't seen Edge with a Gibson since the "Boots" video?

This album appears to be Strat-free. (Although there must be one in there somewhere, right?)

We've also seen Adam using lots of Epiphone and Gibson and no Lakland basses...

Also 'different'? Larry usiing a Brady snare drum.

...Larry seems to be using a metal-shell snare. (Yamaha?) That would be a big change as he's used wooden Brady snare drums since during the Love Town tour.

I am glad that Larry's gone back to the silver sparkle Oak Custom kit. It sppears Larry's used that for the Boots video and US promo shows only, thus far; using the white Yamaha kit in UK and Europe promo shows.

Like I said, I hope he takes the Oak Custom sparkle kit out on tour. Sounds great. Looks great.
  6. Larry has also moved his ride cymbal. It was more to his right, like in the photo below:

    VERTIGO TOUR kit

But now a tamborine is there and the ride is low and over the bass drum. (A far better and more natural position; being right "there" in front of him) [see piccy below]

YAMAHA OAK CUSTOM kit used for LETTERMAN

Essentially, he's had the tamborine and ride cymbal change places.

Inteligent...it was nearly unplayable like it was before. But he doesn't use it very often anyway.
  8. Actually, he does use the ride a lot, and certainly more so on the last 3 records than in the past.

But I agree that over the bass drum and in a lower nature position is best. I think he realized "I'm using the ride cymbal more than tamborine these days... so... have them swap places.
  9. I am loving that Larry is getting a bit 'adventurous' with drum finishes again, like he did with his Popmart tour Yamaha 30th Anniversary Maple Custom kit.
