That said, the 1983 Gibson 30th Anniversary Les Paul Standard (Gold Top) has mostly been used for ONLY "Until The End Of The World" during the Elevation and Vertigo tours. It was used for a few more during Popmart - "Hold Me, Kill Me..." pops into mind.

The curious bit about the picture? No capo at the 3rd fret - which would normally be present for "Until The End Of The World".

    Curious... hmmmm...

Maybe he used it for a song that he normally use one of the Les Paul Customs? I am not sure. I'd like to see video from that show, if indeed that was the show the picture was taken.

He is making baking voices to Bono, with that small microphones he had on the face. On the Vertigo Tour, Edge did backing voices walking on the ellipse mostly on The Fly, but also on Until The End Of The World, Zoo Station and Yahweh (no way Yahweh was played on a Ls Paul). Which guitar does he play The Fly with?
  3. Alrighty... a bit more investigating... Mystery Solved.

    Here's the bootleg cover:

Here is the original piccy from that the CD bootleg cover came from:
    http://www.u2gigs.com/tourpictures/?display=2005%20-%20Vertigo%20Tour%2F2005-10-10%20-%20New%20York%2FDSC02785.JPG

So it appears that it is INDEED from the October 10th 2005 show.

Here's another pic, same show, of Edge using the Gold Top:
    http://www.u2gigs.com/tourpictures/?display=2005%20-%20Vertigo%20Tour%2F2005-10-10%20-%20New%20York%2FDSC02787.JPG

Judging by the headset microphone... Most likely he's playing ZOO STATION with the Gold Top. (Hence, showing my theory that he might be using that in lieu of one of the LP Customs normally used on a tune)

I wasn't too wrong either What about my last question?
  5. During the Vertigo tour, The Fly was normally played on the black and red Line 6 Variax 700 Acoustic. Although, as we can see in U2:3D, it was occasionally played on the silver sparkle finish Line 6 Variax 700 Acoustic.

Yahweh was played on Gibson J200 Pete Townshend model (natural finish) and I think later in the tour he may have used a tobacco finish Gibson J200.

Thanks, amazing amount of info I feel a dumb now
  7. Anything about this weird Les Paul??

  8. It is his music rising LP.

Anyone else think he should use mandolins, dobros, banjos, and pedal steels? (I know he has used all of these at least once, but more regularly) I mean they did do some eagles covers in the early days.

Why feel dumb? No reason to feel dumb.

While Edge has a couple of the Mardi Gras finish Gibson Music Rising Les Pauls, the one in the picture you posted is not one of them.

That is not HIS Music Rising, it is A Music Rising.

That was when they launched the Gibson Music Rising Les Paul Standards (in Mardi Gras finishes) at the Guitar Center in Hollywood. Edge appeared and signed X amount of them. Guitar Center then had a picture of Edge holding and another of him signing, each of the MR Les Pauls that he signed. The photo was taken in the vintage room at Guitar Center Hollywood.

Well from the sound of things, there will be some pedal steel and perhaps some mandolin too. I'd posted a piccy of Edge playing an Ovation Mandolin, whilst in Morocco...

...And from the footage from Morocco that I have on Lanois' "Here Is What Is" DVD, Danny was playing some pedal steel on some of the tunes.

Also judging from the Morocco footage and the snippets on U2.com... I wouldn't hold my breath for an "Eagles" like material.

    Hahahaha....

for some reason I really like those weird coloured ones, but I liked the black LP with the white music rising logo even more
