  2. Hi everyone!

    Could anyone tell me if it´s a good choice to buy a Line 6 Floor Pod to cover mainly U2 but also The Beatles, Oasis and Red Hot? Or should I just save money and slowly build my pedalboard with my own set up of stomp boxes? I´m a noobie in guitar effects...

    Also, what´s a good website I can learn more about the guitar as an instrument, learn more about pick ups, etc... and about amps and effects too?

    Depends on how much money you're willing to spend. If you're new to effects and all that, i'd strongly suggest a multi-fx like the one you mentioned. Invidivual pedals cost tons of money, then you have to look for powering options, then an actual board, as well as good cables, a buffer, and so on. A multi fx is just like, the price of one to three stompboxes, and it's just guitar to multi-fx to amp. I was in the middle of making a pedalboard over the past year, when I realized i don't have the money to make a pedalboard. So right now i'm selling all of them and getting an M13. I strongly suggest a multi-fx.

    Thanx! Yeah, it helped a lot, I think I´ll get the floor pod when I travel to US... I don´t think I´m good enough for the stomps yet lol... and If I were to make my own pedalboard it would be really slowly due to money... Thanx again

    You won't need a whole lot of pedals to play this stuff. Maybe one or two good distorions. You could get away with a good valve amplifier, which would be probably as expensive as getting a lot of pedals, with much better results.
    For U2, one or two delay units could help you, it depends on how close you want the sounds to the real thing.
    I am against multi effects.


  6. I was as well for the longest time, but after going down the pedal board route and seeing how much financial backing it needs as well as patience, i'm not anymore. I also just joined a band, and having pre-sets is a lot easier when playing live than tap dancing on 5 different pedals is, trust me.

    I get what you say, but I still think that the individual units are better.
    I really like to do things the old fashioned way, so having a single processor doesn't really come as "genuine" for me. Also, the individual units sound much better, which I think that is what matters, for me at least.
    I can perfectly understand why someone would get a multi effects though.

    the individual effects ARE better, as you say, simply because the multi-fx only "model" or "simulate" what the original does. However some of them can come extremely close. Take a look at our Guitar Hero, his rack is full of multi-fx, he only has about 10 individual effects in his whole rig.
  9. So, just thinking... I´d basically need two pedals to start off... a distortion and a delay unit? I am really cnfused now I d k what to get hauhauhuaa... still tending to multi effects, but today at a guitar shop i played with both and it was so good and cool playing with those boss´colored boxes... they´re amazing!!!

    I don´t know... I have U$200,00 - 300,00 to spend now from my savings and will have maybe U$300,00 in july... so? huaauhuaha...

    Give some information in reais if you are really in brasil and I can help you.
    Basically, if you are looking for really quality sounds, you could start to build a pedal collection. If you just feel like messing arond with effects and playing your favorite songs, a multi effect could serve you better.

    I am looking for something tht will give me the best "custo beneficio"... that will really be worth buying... and I gave u the info in dollars cause I am going to be visiting the US twice next year so I hope to buy things there ... but well... If yu want it in reais I think it´s around 500 - 700 hundred in januray (it depends , I´m still depending on other things) and about 700 hundred in July...

    It all depends on what you want man. I'm getting a multi-fx because i'm in a band, and live it's a lot easier to switch from pre-set to pre-set. The sounds on multi-fx aren't bad at all (depending on how much money you're willing to spend) I know professional giggers that use multi-fx and swear on their effects models. I've seen demo's where they put the exact same settigns on a pedal sim and the actual pedal, and they sound the same. If you're just starting out and you just want to frig around in your room and play some cool stuff, get a few pedals. If you're looking to play U2, get a Boss SD-1 and a Boss Delay pedal (i recommend the DD-20, it has an LED indicator as well as a wicked mod delay, which is precise for Edge's tone). After that, it's just basically how much variety you want. For most of the bands you said, all you need is an overdrive and a delay. You can be picky and get a compressor as well, but you don't actually need one.
