    I haven't actually tried either of them, i've never actually seen them in any local music store so it's difficult to try, but I've actually seen comparisons online and apparently the Mayer "schools" (directly quoted) the EJ strat. Apparently everything from the silky african rosewood (apparetly bends above the 12th fret are dead, but that comes with the vintage wood neck) and the big dipper pickups make it amazing. It'd be great to do a comparison myself, but like I said, kind of impossible.

    I know Scott. It is the look and the sound. If it sounded shit, he wouldn't spend the money. You on the other hand DONT know Scott and are making judgement base on what? Jealousy? Or to just pass judgement?

    I agree that most of what Adam plays can be done with a Precision and/or Jazz bass. But he's choosen to add other colors to his sound, particularly during this tour. There are a number of new (newly seen on tour) bass guitars on the U2:360 tour.

    That said, there is nothing wrong for one that plays in a tribute to get similar or the same tools to get similar to the same sounds. Just seems you want to talk down the purchase or berate him for making it.

    That is just odd.

    I always said I think it is ok to buy it. What I am saying is that people, not just this guy, play these weird instruments because of their looks and not because of their sound. It certainly doesn't sound bad, but it certainly doesn't sound any "better" or very different from a good old precision.

    Lol I think some of the reason Edge got the explorer was because it looked weird. It wouldn't have "spoken" to him in the shop if it didn't look like that.

    He's been quoted numerous times as saying that it just sat there in the window, calling his name. He was almost magnetically drawn to it because nobody else was playing that in their scene at the time.

    And I agree about Adam's bass. I mean...we're all sitting here talking about how different it looks right now. It worked.

    Look might have attracted him to pick it up but he's gone on record stating that he like the feel of it and that played well... well enough that it detracted him from what he went there looking for, which was a 6-string Rickenbacker.

    true, but i'm just saying he wouldn't have picked it up had it not been for it's peculiar design. If it was a black and white strat he wouldn't have looked at it probably. I heard he was looking for a les paul too, probably browsing for whatever.

    The story I remember him telling was about wanting a Rickenbacker. If memory serves, he mentioned something about wanting it as the Buzzcocks and The Jam had them.

    Possible that Edge may have indeed had it in mind to get an LP. I remembering saying that he got the white Les Paul Custom as Steve Jones from Sex Pistols and Mick Jones from The Clash had white LP Customs.
  10. What does a Warwick Reverso look like up close? Great.

    What does a Warwick Reverso feel like? Great. Lighter than expected. Great feel. Amazing quality bass guitar.

    The edge of the neck has LEDs - for finding the right fret on a darkened stage. Nothing but grande things to say about this bass.

    One can argue price or whatever but the fact is, the bass is quality through and through and sounds and looks stunning.

    Me with the Warwick...

  11. just got my SG back from the shop, got a set-up and re-string done on it for the 1st time since i bought it (ive had it for 14months and it was an ex-display ) sounds like a completly different guitar, sooo much better.

    how often do u guys change ur strings?

    I'm told it's worth changing them once a month, or at least fairly regularly. However, I don't, partly out of sheer laziness, partly out of financial issues (i.e. skint student!). I've changed the strings on my Explorer once in the last year due to this and there hasn't been any problems as a result of it. I've not changed the strings on my Les Paul and Strat. in ages lol, but I don't have them with me at uni. so it's not so much of an issue. I generally look after them fairly well so they sound ok, but I need to get my Explorer set-up 'cause the nut's become slightly worn leading to fret buzz on a couple of strings which is only noticeable when I'm playing clean.

    If you're Edge, you don't change them - you hire Dallas Schoo, and then request string changes everyday
