1. Korg A3 with SPC-01 card (or the cards sounds loaded into the A3). I don't remember the exact name of the patch but it's in there. And as mentioned it is essentially distortion and flanger.

Korg A3 arrived during the Achtung Baby sessions and was used for a number of Achtung Baby and Zooropa tunes. That said, some of the Zooropa tunes were left-overs from the Achtung Baby sessions. "Numb" was called "Down All Days" in it's earlier incarnation during the Achtung Baby sessions.
  2. He also uses a gated effect doesn't he? Think I read it in U2 by U2

  4. What about the solo in Babyface? I've tried to get that sound for some days now, but nothing sounds even close to it...

  5. I don't know if you're talking about the lead part in the last chorus, or the weird little solo/break around 2:48...this is for that break.

It sounds like a distortion pedal as opposed to overdrive, with a wide flange. Actually, quite similar to "Numb". Also, if you have an expression wah pedal, try engaging it and finding that "sweet spot" and leaving it there. My wah has provided the "missing piece" to many sounds I've struggled with
  6. What the fuck, I must be sick or something. I was asking for the solo in Some Days Are Better Than Others, not about Babyface!!! Sorry

Haha no worries, let me listen to it really quick...
  8. Sounds like a mixture of incredibly high gain, EQ with no mid, wah engaged and all the way up (pedal facing upwards, not pressed down)...literally just as much fuzz as you could throw on there. I have a multi-effect processor, and I would set the amp modeler to a fuzz amp and turn the gain all the way up, for example.

    Just an amateur opinion.
  9. I've tried with a total fuzz with zero echo and with some wah thrown there, but didn't sound right. Maybe the wah I chose was wrong, I will try this evening. Thanks in advance, I hope I can get it right this time

By the way, Matt, you have a pretty good trained ear when it comes to effects and sounds in general, don't you? I struggle and struggle to get a sound right, and never know which effects would (or not) work to get a sound right. I have a good ear for playing but not a good ear for sounds and effects. I wish I did...
  10. "Somedays Are Better Than Others" solo tone IS brilliant. I have not tried that one... I will have two work on it.

Sounds like some sort of broken fuzz. Not like the unit itself was broken but a broken tone. I will have to putz around and see if I can figure that one out. I will ask around a bit too... Great tone.

I think a lot has to do with manipulating that EQ, too...keeping your treb a little higher than usual, the bass about equal, and killing the mid can make those bright distortion tones really crackle.
  12. Yeah yeah I messed with the EQ as well, killing the mediums had a strong effect and got me closer to the sound, but....... I didn't get it 100%. Maybe some Jeff Help could do, thanks for joinging mate
