  2. Ok, so I actually got kind of interested in a Squier Classic Vibe 60's Strat yesterday. A store has one in Candy Apple Red which just hangs on the wall screaming for me.

  5. The Classic Vibes seem to have a pretty good reputation though.

    I want to try a Fender Classic Series though, I tried a MIM Standard and it just felt wrong for me. Didn't like the neck and the fretboard. And I don't think the Classic Player Strats are for me either based on what I've felt while playing Strats. A 12" fretboard radius would feel to flat to me I'm sure.
  6. I think pedals won the pedals vs multi-fx battle in my head again. One very good reason for pedals is to be able to choose each sound yourself.

    I've changed my mind a bit about what kind of distortion I think I'm looking for, looking for something a bit warmer than what I was before. I like my tone to be "organic". This distortion pedal sounds pretty great. And no, even though the name might make you think so, it's not a heavy metal pedal.



    TC have some holiday special thing where you get two pedals and get an extra Spark Booster which seems to be a damn good pedal too. Since I've been looking at the Hall Of Fame reverb... I'm tempted now that I'm interested in the Dark Matter too. They're pretty expensive pedals though, 150 dollars. The Spark Booster that you get extra is 150 too though.


  7. Great, sleek, looks cool....does this nifty little thing where you just slam all the strings at the same time, and it gives you a band across the tuner and shows you which ones are tuned sharp or flat...can tune your guitar in one strum instead of one string at a time.

    I use pedals way more for writing my own stuff. Edge inspired me with that when I saw It Might Get Loud...he has this idea of a sound in his head, and he achieves it with a pedal.

    I definitely don't try to use them to make myself sound any better...I use them to make myself sound a little different
  9. Power supply in today...interesting design but I can make it work with the board. Still have to order the individual 9v DC patch connectors...anyone got any tips on the best place to get those?

    Connector jacks for the side of the board are backordered but should apparently ship by next week...it's allll coming together...
  10. I'm thinking about getting a better speaker for my Peavey Valveking 112. The Eminence Texas Heat seems to be what I'm looking for. Also looking to get some better tubes in my amp. Wow, tubes seem to have a big science of their own. But I think I've understood what I should do to lower the gain a little overall and tame the gain channel which is a bit out of control which is what I want to do. Feels exciting.

    Gonna get some new strings for my Epi LP some day and then I'm gonna start trying to sell it. It's a fine guitar, but I just don't play it and I pretty much haven't since I got my Sheraton. It's unnecessary. Don't think I'm gonna hurry to get a new guitar, but sometime next year maybe. I just love my Sheraton a lot. So the new guitar plans will get shelved for a while.
  11. I would hit the tubes before the speaker- much bigger impact on the sound in my opinion, and you might wind up not needed to spend the money on the speaker at all.

    I almost did the same thing and ended up gutting the amp entirely and making a custom amp head out of an old Fender Deluxe combo! It's pretty sweet!

    Well, the internet says the speaker really makes a lot of difference for a VK112 and clears it up a lot. I think I believe it, the almighty internet, because the amp does sound a bit muddy. Not a lot. But not entirely "free". I think I'll change both. Should be fun to do to. Some electronics. Maybe I'll even get myself killed! But I don't think so.
