I remember reading somewhere that during the rehearsals for the Joshua Tree Tour there was talk of stringing Bono up to wires and having him raised above the crowd singing. He thought the idea to be absurd.

A couple months later there was JBJ flying in the air as a cowboy to Wanted Dead Or Alive.
