I also work out the songs simply hearing and pllaying along (ear-method xDD) but I really can't remember them, I NEED the notebook! Moreover, with the notebook I can play everything I know simply going to the page. Otherwise I have to surf my brain cells... Not good

EDIT. I'm currently playing Horses with the Bm and it sounds tons better than the D chord!! Awesome

Yeah tis isn't it? Just sounds more rounded and adds something to the song

Listen to any acoustic version and you'll hear the difference . The key with chords, I find, is to base it on the bassline, 'cause that is what drives a song for the most part - especially with Edge, the guitarwork adds frills and texture to the song (unless he's playing chords too ).

EDIT - dammit man, you've changed your avatar too!

Agreed, I usually stick a D in on the 3rd verse (i.e. after the first chorus) if I'm playing acoustically. On electric, tis a different matter . Throw the Bm in during the choruses and when you get to "don't turn around"

I don't know anything technical about electric guitars etc., i.e. if people start talking at length about different pickups, how to get different tones etc., so basically all the really complicated shit, I am stuffed! But actual music is my strongpoint, I started off learning music on the flute and piano, still play the piano but dropped the flute, and like 3/4/5 years ago?, I started taking up the guitar and teaching myself, and I just transferred all the stuff I'd learnt from the piano onto the guitar, so keys/chords etc. aren't a problem to me. I'm a fairly unorthodox player as a result lol...
Amazing! I'd really really love to play the piano, even though I think I must get some knowledge at guitar first. If not, I'll be a unorthodox+pretty good guitar player and unorthodox+pretty bad piano player xD

Completely! The problem is that I actually know Wild Horses, I play it of course without the notebook, and I learnt it with the D... So chainging to Bm will be difficult I will probably mistake the chords a lot Thanks nyway for the tip

I don't profess to be an amazing piano or guitar player, but a lot of people tell me I'm fairly good at either so I guess that's a good sign lol!

I started playing Piano first, and I must say, that has helped me a lot with the guitar. It's always good to know the theory side of music, and piano teaches you that.

Heh yeah, I had that trouble when I found out, 'cause I learnt Wild Horses same as you, G D C etc., but after a bit of practice, it comes fairly easily (G > Bm is a bugger of a chord change if you're playing Bm as a true bar chord; if you cheat and play like Bono does on some chords like F - or E on an Eb-tuned guitar - , it's much easier lol )

What I was trying to say lol. A basic-to-decent understanding of music goes a hell of a long way lol! I always find it strange when I speak to some mates of mine who play guitar too, and don't know the first thing about theory, but do everything from tab. I just think it takes some of the joy of music away. Improvisation isn't hard if you've got a basic knowledge of chords & keys under your belt lol, yet one of the things people say to me is that I'm good at improvising! It's not too hard y'know!

EDIT - is it me or should we be moving this to General Chat? lol. I fear we may be using the wrong thread here...

That's what I'd REALLY want to know, the Theorical side. Why Asus4 is like A with one more fret on the 2nd string? Why isn't 6th string played on the D chord? What's the difference between an A (022200) and an A (556775) chords?? That's what I really LACK!

Aha, nobody knows why, but we all know it is thus
  10. so what songs shall we do?

    Hhahahaha good one dude

I really would like to know a bit more on music theories, and about physical basis of the guitar. I think I should ask it to my grandfather (the only proffesional musician of the family & the owner of the most gorgeous guitar I ever seen!)

I know I don't have anything to say in this (cause I don't even join...), but why not the winner of the Song Survival?
    It's THE U2start song!
