Sounds a bit Beatles / Beach Boys - esque to me. Mellow and boring.I'm probably not hearing everything there is to hear in it, but for now, it doesn't sound all that impressive.
Originally posted by vanquish:Had a third listen to the clips, and the new album sounds quite promising, better than HTDAAB and ATYCLB, it retains the 2000s U2 sound while throwing in their 90s experimentation. And although from the band's comments I was expecting something similar, it still soundsfresh and interesting. The 1st clip (Here is What It Is apparently) is my favourite, what does everyone else like?
I'm also becoming quite interested in how the album will be received by the general public, will it be just another U2 album (that'll win a swag of Grammys and sell by the million), or can it reignite interest in U2, particularly from Gen Y. Seeing as the band set out to appeal to a wider audience with this album, I can't wait to see the general reaction.

Track 4, Only Love, has my interest. A lot of Eno in that one with a good melody and good work from Edge.

That one is my second favourite (perhaps only on basis of recording quality), Track 1's chorus is catchy though, and I love the rhythm: "And gravity, heal me, use me, that I may see”,
Sounds epic, with the Edge's soaring guitar.

Universal Music Group, which owns the band’s Interscope label, have registered the domain name No Line On The Horizon — suggesting that will be the CD title.
It sounds like a self-help book BRITNEY SPEARS might read.
