I agree. I orginally thought that a remake would be blasphemous, but now I think I prefer the new. It embraced the creepy, and the songs in the orginal suck.
It's the freaky squirrels that do it for me. That and Johnny Depp's Michael Jackson impersonation... Has to be said in the same breath, though, that Burton made the Planet Of The Apes debacle, so he doesn't always get it right...
