1. Normally, since when does U2 do something normally?

  2. Yep -- 'years' may be even more appropriate...

  3. Or mere days, a la "The King of Limbs"...anything is possible in today's technological age, and I wouldn't put it past U2 to at least try something like that. They seem to at least want to catch up to where some of the trends are in the business of releasing music- talking about doing shorter EPs more frequently in the future, much more digital attention, etc...I'm not keeping my head up about that hope in particular, but I'm also not giving up.

  4. Well we do know that the album was supposed to be released in Autumn 2009, and then early 2010 and then the second half of 2010 and then very early sooner any of us would think 2011, and then before the USA leg and then at the end of May 2011.

    So it's already years now

Yeah, it doesn't bother me that its not out yet, it bothers me that they open their mouths and talk about possible release dates when they clearly have on handle on what they're talking about. Just say its in the works and we'll get it when we get it, I'll be okay with that. We know you've got something going on, no need to try to satisfy us with a false release date that we'll just be disappointed with later.
  6. Well, weren't the dates for Australia/NZ not announced in late August? And the dates were November/December?

It's only the 22nd of March and these dates are for September? Plenty of time I say. They could be announced as late as May.

  7. I read that on another news site and I'll try to translate his words.
"A small problem appeared. Before that period in September they will be somewhere in Tunisia. So transportation must be provided. We're trying to figure out a way to do it, that means an airbridge. Without that scene, the concert would be deprived. After all, we're talking about 120 trucks. There are many things to overcome, but we hope to do it."
Does that mean that U2 will have their stages in Tunisia? I kinda doubt this.
He says that if they (the city hall staff) "can't bring them in September, another solution would be to postpone the event until October". He also said that "the will to come is already solved".
In my opinion, the fact that the will to come is solved doesn't mean a lot. I mean, "yeah, sure we want to come" could be a polite declaration. Or maybe the negotiations are in an advanced stage, who knows.
From this I can only think of two things. The first is that they will have the stages in Africa and they will have to bring one here especially for the Bucharest concert, in which case the costs of an airbridge would be enormous, unjustified and irretrievable. If they will be in Africa, maybe there won't be another European leg after all and we would be the chosen ones. Knowing how things work around here, let me doubt about this too. Though there was something similar in the past with Michael Jackson. Maybe we are the chosen people
The second thought is that everything, or parts of it, is bull. The fact that he says where they will be is quite a lot of info to be true and said without the U2 staff approval.
Or maybe it's meant to be planted in order to cause even more confusion before announcing the real plans? That wouldn't be the first time.

    Thanks!

Haha, I'm beginning to feel lucky to be your neighbour

Yeah I don't think that either that he's supposed to talk about U2's plans before they are officially announced. If they are true at all.

  9. Michelle Meets The Edge Written by Eavann McCarthy | 24 March 2011

Michelle Doherty caught up with Edge to talk about plans for a new album, bringing the 360 Tour to a close, finally getting to play Glastonbury, and the many ways the lads like to slag Bono.

Don’t miss it this Friday at 12.30 – Only on Phantom 105.2.

    Here's my bet:

"...working on a new album.... yadda yadda... best since Achtung Baby... yadda yadda.... different ways to release it... yadda yadda...always look for something new... no date set"

"This tour is so much fun... yadda yadda.... 360... yadda yadda... closer to the audience... yadda yadda... Moncton."

"Glasto... yadda yadda... Muse... return... yadda yadda... dream.... excited"

btw: Craig Evans says that the tour will have had 110 dates once it's finished...
  11. Over 110.

Upto Moncton it's exactly 110 not counting Glastonbury and the rehearsal show back in 2009.

  12. Glastonbury isn't part of the 360 tour. Same for the rehearsal.
Bottom line: Moncton is the 110th and last 360 show. (I hope at least)
