  1. Well U2 like to announce tours about 4 months before they start so a Feb/March tour of Australia means that it will be announced in October/November...

    And if thats when the official announcement is we should be hearing all kind of crazy rumors and speculation! Im hoping that the Brisbane concert will be at Suncorp Stadium or the Gabba, not ANZ as last time as the transport thing didn't work at all!

    Also just in case an U2 staff ever drop by... If you are worried about transport costs then put on more concerts! If AC/DC can do 2 or 3 stadiums in each city and Pink can do 10 arena shows you can do more than one too!


    They go wherever the tour promoter can get a slot. For us it was AAMI Stadium, certainly the worst stadium in Australia, because it's falling to bits and the sound and viewing was absolutely crap - though Adelaide Oval would have been great, just driving straight into the city rather than having to put up with the traffic down at West Lakes because anyone that's been there for Showdown or any concert would know.

    But compared to The Claw, how big is the Black Ice stage?
  2. I believe that the Black Ice stage takes somewhere between 40 and 45 semi's - so nothing close to the Claw's transport requirements

    For starters the Stadium seats 100,000 people which is more than any other stadium used so far and thats not counting people on the field. Secondly the stadium itself is so you can stick the claw in the middle and it will be brilliant. Image this place with the claw in it!

    U2 at a packed MCG...... OMG times a million!!!!! that would be perfect!!! even telstra domw in melbourne would be the perfect stadium!!!

    I've heard mixed reports about the sound at Suncorp. I think it'll be ANZ (or QSAC) again.
  5. yeh id love to see u2 play 'The G' id definatley pay to see that. i hope they play at adelaide oval too, then i can go twice

  6. That's because we're beside ourselves wondering whether they'll tour or do another Elevation and not come down here. Northern hemisphere are fine - they'll have their U2 fix for 2009.

    In all honesty, I think it'd be bad for U2's image down here if they don't tour - moreso than the Elevation snub. They are still enormously popular down here and to ignore that would be a serious failing on their part.

    They got good crowds down here last time. In fact I'd probably say that Sydney went close to attracting the most number of people than anywhere else in the world. 3 nights at Telstra Stadium was massive.

    "U2 are set to give their multi million pound stage away after their 360 degree tour finishes later this year.
    Architect Mark Fisher, who designed the stage, says the band want to leave stages behind in different countries so people can hold concerts on them. "

  10. let's hope they play Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium as it is a far better concert venue than hampden park the sound in hampden on the vertigo was very poor sound and atmosphere in Murrayfield is much better.

    id have went to Edinburgh. Dont like Glasgow at all. Hopefully Edinburgh next year

    U2's tour architect has said that is hoping to turn the giant claws currently being used as part of their stage set-up into permanent venues.

    The band's 360 Tour, which calls at London's Wembley Stadium this weekend (August 14, 15), features a giant claw allowing fans a 360 degree view of the band. It is one of three similar claws to be used during their world tour, which is currently scheduled to finish in Vancouver on October 28, but is likely to stretch into 2010.

    Mark Fisher says he has been discussing with U2 about the possibility of using the steel claw structures around the world once the band wrap up their tour, reports BBC News.

    "My vision, which I've been discussing with the band, is that we will turn them into concert pavilions," he said. "Part of the tour will finish in Australia and another part of the tour will finish in South America, where people could use a nice concert pavilion in a park, which has an ability to take 200 tonnes of kit hanging under it."
