1. i think there are some SALOME influences in the song
the hand clappings in the beginning

My thoughts exactly on 7th listening or so...

  3. Radios from whole world must like this music, it's pretty noise!
  4. I'm a little in-between on this one. I definatly think it's better than Vertigo. It feels so much like Elvis Costello's "Pump It Up." But I really love the rhythm section on this one.

  5. After the first six or so listens I'm still sorta lukewarm on it...but I am sure it will grow on me over time.

I rather like the "sudden hip-hop turn midway through."

I think the guitar solo after that little guitar bit after the chorus is weak.

Definitely "picks up where Vertigo left off." Riff sounds very similar. But like Vertigo--what a riff! Superb use of the fuzz pedal. I've been thinking about getting one...dare I say Edge has convinced me?

I'd say this song owes more to Atomic Bomb than Achtung Baby.

I'd say more to Pop/Zooropa than AB. Can't connect it to Bomb.

  8. Impressions after about my 6th or 7th listen:

They could have come up with a better intro, perhaps opening with something other than the guitar riff (excellent riff, by the way).

Adam's bass is stellar, as are Larry's drums.

The verses have a great rhythm and make my head bob.

At first, I didn't like the "you don't know" chorus part, but its really beginning to grow on me.

The lyrics are just OK, but I love the vocal rhythm.

LOVE the part around 120, with the bass and high-pitched guitar.

LOVE the "let me in the sound" part so much.

Wish Edge had a longer solo, but it will probably/hopefully be improved on live.

There are a lot of different aspects and parts to the song, almost like a few individual songs.

People seem to be making hybrid-album comparisons, so the one I think is the most fitting is Zooropa/HTDAAB (being that it has the experimentation of Zooropa, but a more rocking experimentation. Haven't seen that analogy yet ). However, I can honestly say I have not heard anything like this.

Don't think this song will get old any time soon.

Can't wait to hear this one live.

EDIT: during my writing of this, make it my 13th or 14th listen
  9. FREAKING INSANE, I was afrait to have a long and boring first song with ONLY humanitarian influence.

man my fears are well away now. !
  10. This is one hell of a trip. These guys are absolute pros. They know exactly what they are doing and not afraid to push themselves. They are taking us on another ride for 2009!

First listen I was kind of thrown off. Did not expected this flavor. I think immediately to Pop but not just Pop. Its electro with some of the Moroccan spice sprinkled in there. I totally hear those influences. Plus an undeniable riff by The Edge. This shit rocks!

The verse is layered with kickass drums and bass locked into the groove while Bono slides his way through the lyrics that are almost throwaway ala Discotheque. Then we hit the chorus, which really grows on you after a few listens. Sexy Boots! Get On Your Boots... yeah! The we hit the bridge where Larry cuts the time in half and allows us to bob our heads up and down to the Dublin groove. Just image his drums during this part live. That kick drum is going to be pumping. The finish just builds and builds relying on the top shelf riff we began with!

All I've got to say is thank you guys! This is going to be totally badass live. I cannot wait for the full album.

Now this is all my honest opinions. Hope everyone else digs this and look forward to hearing more of your thoughts.

I don’t want to talk about wars between nations"

    Nuff said.
