Bono said if you fall in love with a band when youre 13, its part of you forever.
Became a fan right after the Vertigo tour and I was 13 at the time. Started to go through every song and album, started to play electric guitar, bought an effect pedal. Started to listen to bootlegs so four years just flew away. Then Boots leaked and I thought it was a joke, they were trying to spoof us. This was not the U2 I fell in love with. Well Boots was not a joke. But I remember the hype for the album and for the tour. But yeah No Line is not my favourtite album, but it gave me Magnificent, Breathe and the song No Line On The Horizon. Songs that reminds me of my youth, songs that will be part of me forever.

That's strange as never knew Bono said that about being 13... I had listened to U2 from the mid 80's but it wasn't until I heard All I Want is You on the radio that I became properly obsessed (June 1989, I'd just turned 13).

Wasn't a major fan of No Line when it was released, liked Breathe and Fez and the guitar solo on Unknown Caller. Didn't get some of the reviews saying it was as good as Achtung. I went to the first 360 show which was great as it's U2 live and Breathe and No Line were great openers.

I'll buy the album this week as it's the only album I don't have on vinyl, might listen to it all the way through (which will be a first since 2009).

It's true. I was 13 when The Joshua Tree was released...and here I still am.

It was 13 for me as well, 1995. Heard HMTMKMKM on the Batman Soundtrack, and it got me interested enough to check out my Dad's CDs of JT and RH, and I remember "borrowing" my Uncle's cassette of UABRS. I had my Mom rent me Red Rocks and Rattle and Hum from the local video store, and I became an absolute fanatic! 2 long years later I finally got to see U2 at Popmart Columbus, which was the pentacle of my life at that time. I like a lot of other bands, but none have stuck with me the way U2 has.

14 here! I told the story in the fan of the month post the guys here did for me, but yeah. Lifelong fan, no doubt.

I splurged and ordered the NLOTH vinyl haha, will probably only listen to Disc 2 Side A on repeated listening. Cedars of Lebanon might be the coolest track U2 have put out since Pop.

Damn, I was 16 when I found U2. Guess I'll be saying goodbye to them soon then

Looking forward to my ultra clear vinyl to arrive. A few people have said that the vinyl sounds completely different, that it gives a completely different take on the album, than the cd/streaming options. is this true?

I have the original vinyl for this, so I won't speak for the re-issue, but I'll still defend what I've always said - this album was made for vinyl! There is just something about, some kind of dynamic (for me, anyway) that takes the experience to a new level on the vinyl.

When you get it, let me know what you think.

it's good to have here a vinyl maniac by my side mr. blueeyedboy!
i think the same for the sound ( vinyl rules) and for the headphones ( it's you and the vinyl.world is outside - and with wireless headphones you can also do the dishes)

and...about the age.....i was 12 when i started with U2......in 1984
