    THANK YOU!! Yes.. Think about it.. The salesperson blabs on to him about how if he wants to stay alive [a bit longer], he needs to know 3 things.. Bono says in return that he's come from a 'long line' of traveling salespeople [on his mother's side] and that he wasn't going to buy (listen) to any of their garbage (cockatoo). So, not only did he use that word as a buzz word to represent something, I think he also used it so that he could rhyme a phrase that comes a little later.. "...cockatoo..." (phrase that comes a little later)--> "..would you??.." ..See?

    So, this makes sense to me. Hope it helps some!
