1. Since the new album is receiving good reviews and is coming out soon, the band is bound to garner some new fans, and therefore, since this is one of the best U2 sites , new site members are bound to show up.

There are some things that you just won't learn about the band by looking at Wikipedia or watching TV specials, but only by browsing the fan forums. I thought that it would be a good idea to have one place to organize such essential information.

So, please submit whatever you think every new fan needs to know. I'll start (feel free to edit my post if I'm wrong or to add new info, this is off the top of my head).

Mercy (shown in the video below) is often considered the "Holy Grail" of U2 songs. It is a leftover from the How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb sessions that found our way to us because a fan was given a copy of the album with the song on it.

  2. I love Mercy it's so incredible! I wish the band would bust this song out live sometime.
  3. Acrobat is the holy mythical never-played live song.
  4. Never eat the yellow snow

    oh wait, U2 related stuff...

    - The 1992-1993 ZooTV tour was the first tour with a B-stage and one of the first which had video screens.

    - Where The Streets Have No Name is, without a doubt, their best song ever.

  5. Indeed. And Bono said he regrets he spent only 30 minutes writing the lyrics lol
  6. Before they were U2, Edge's brother Dick used to play in the band.

  7. True, and they put him out of the band because he once fought with Larry.
And because he was a bit older

Oh, and U2 was the first and only band that played Slane Castle twice in one year.
  8. The band nearly split-up before October was released.
The bands very first name was Feedback
  9. Their twin masterpieces were Achtung Baby and the Joshua Tree.

Their defining tour was ZooTV back in the early 90s.

  10. Yep... the best song the've ever done...
    sadly never played live...
  11. caution, if you fall in love with them you will be their prisoner for life.
their songs(most of them) reach our soul and fill up our lives.
    that's so good.
  12. Warning to new U2 fans:
No matter what people say the beach clips aren't important, don't believe the hype
