1. You want to know what a joke U2 has become in the music industry? They get raving reviews for NLOTH and Atomic Bomb. NLOTH gets a Rolling Stone 5 star!

Does anyone really think NLOTH is as good as Joshua Tree or War,UF or Achtung? Of course not.

If NLOTH was released early in U2's career we all know they would have been a failure.

U2 now live off their past work, not the new stuff. Most people go to see them live to see the old material, I don't think even half the fans want to hear the new stuff. They rather hear anything pre 2000.

Read the reviews from independent critics who are not U2 sheep like Rolling Stone. The Irsh Times even said NLOTH is awful. Just wait until the aazon reviews go up and you will see
the real public opinion of U2. Just like Atomic Bomb they will get massive bad reviews.

And the most ridiculous thing is Atomic Bomb gets grammy but a great album like Unforgettable Fire which has classic like Pride and Bad got nothing. hat goes to show how commercial U2 has become. Even their worst albums win awards but when they werenot mega stars their best work got nothing

  2. ...and, pray tell, how do you know what everyone thinks? I've yet to come across someone who has said that it definitively is their best ever work (although that's not to say there aren't people who do genuinely think that), they're simply saying it could be. It's technically not even out yet, and it'll take time to see whether it holds up against the other albums. Aside from yourself and the other extreme 'fans' who seem to think their word is gospel bloody truth, most people seem to be pretty positive and are giving it every chance. I can't say, I didn't download the leak and am purchasing the CD tomorrow with any luck.

What do you care? Dont you have better things to worry about? You, newspapers, magazines, and especially the "reviewers" on amazon DO NOT influence me. What is your point? Once again, this is all your opinion that you are trying to make FACT. Like I said the "FACTS' speak for themselves. Show me another group as successful for this amount of time. There's a reason.

And when all the reviews go up on amazon (which are usually just a bunch of winers like you) even if the album gets 1 star, U2 will be EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK FOR THE NEXT 2-3 years like everytime they release an album. That should give you an idea of "public opinion". If noone was interested, they wouldn't be around. PERIOD

Please go to amazon.com and share your OPINIONS there with all the other self-proclaimed music critics.

Exactly!! Just go read some of the "LISTS" on our forums. The difference in preference for U2 is amazing! Whether its favorite songs, tour, albums, lyrics etc

  5. I do. I dislike War. War is IMHO U2's weakest album. I like TUF but to me NLOTH is better.

Go read some other topics before you start assuming. Read a few member's rankings for example.

Keep your mouth shut until you know what you're talking about. Get some info first. Read some topics. Read some of the controversies being discussed here.

Otherwise we might assume you're an internet troll without a life. In this case we'd have to ask for you to get banned.

Oh, and you didn't apologize for your numerous insults yet.

  6. Same here doesn't mean we're necessarily right or wrong, merely reflects our own view of a certain piece of music.

Indeed - music is subjective, everyone has a different view to greater or lesser extents, so we should be allowed to make up our own minds without having self-righteous nobs trying to preach to us what they think.

    good posts Alex !
  8. Shit, did I miss the fun???

Did anybody bring in Coldplay already?

  9. First page. Gerards post was epic, and so are Alex's posts. Wish I could say it all so straight.

  10. sadly not. Missed a good rant though
  11. I think we should take an example of Alex
What a posts, now that's a way to discuss with some solid arguments

Anyway, as our topic stated, who's btw obviously in her monthly period, 'old' fans want the 'old' U2 back. I believe everyone has his period he wants back...
'Old' fans want to go back to the time when 'Is That All?' and 'The Refugee' were great hits ( )
I know certain people want JT/RH back
I personally would love to see another ZooTV/PopMart
And newer fans (which I definitely should count myself too) love this ATYCLB/HTDAAB/NLOTH era.
And don't say that the modern U2-songs are crap. Talking about singles: BD was the first #1 hit here in Holland. Others were Vertigo, WITS and TSAC. All those old hits haven't reached that.

If you like U2 pre-TUF, that's fine. But don't call us nazis or fascists or whatever because we DO enjoy the modern U2 era.
