And the 'personal taste' argument doesn't help determine who's right or wrong. And it doesn't work on metal heads/ headbangers etc.

But I do like that U2 has a limited bunch of fans, rather than being mainstream idols.

U2 are mainstream, they are since the joshua tree imo.
  2. IMO, i am a huge fan. Maybe not mainstream, but they are commercial at least. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe i was confusing

Isnt globally very popular music 'mainstream' by definition?

When I hear the word 'mainstream', I imagine the music played on radios and popular with masses. We, U2 fans, are a huge mass of people, but no way there's as much of us as those who listen to pop, R'n'B, rap and hip-hop which are the most played music genres on radios. No-one except of us listens to U2. Yes, people know them, but they don't listen to them.

You made some valid points, but i do not completely agree. Anyway it is personal and I dont think lesser of U2 because i think they are mainstream

Anyway we (i started the offtopic, sorry ) should keep this thread about Magnificent.
  5. U2 are a mainstream rockband. But since rock isnt popular chart music anymore, I'm not sure wether you could call them mainstream music. But they are, wether you like it or not, one of the most mainstream rockbands around.

Magnificent now, sorry, couldnt let it

  6. I can give you a neverending list lol
Pretty much everything that doesn't score in the charts
  7. U2 mainstream since Joshua Tree? No way. Baby, Zooropa and Pop mainstream?

Maybe with All That You Can't en Bomb they changed into a mainstream band, but No Line isn't mainstream at all.
