There are many reasons:
1. U2 loves Berlin.
2. They wrote songs and recorded the "Achtung Baby" in Berlin.
3. They dedicated one or two songs in this concert to that city.
4. Nelson Mandela had his birthday on that day. And everybody sing for him
And the best reason:
5. I WAS AT THIS SHOW !!![]()

Alright.
Slane, there is a reason it was only released by way of a petition, and I sure as hell didn't sign it. I really don't want to see those crap closeups of Bono, surely staying five meters away (since it's a pro-shot) would have sufficed. Whoever did the audio mix needs shot or kicked in the teeth because it's way too harsh and lacks any kind of anything to it. And don't bother with the 5.1 soundtrack - you want bad, that is worse than bad.
We get a non-existent setlist with the obvious two nights in it and just generally it bored the life out of me - The Fly, Wild Horses - where are you? I enjoyed All That You Can't Leave Behind - well, the second-half anyway - but the two concert films released were at times worse than a crap bootleg video. Hamish Hamilton can't direct for monkey's balls, he needs to stick to that MTV generic shit.
Why Mysterious Ways was even included with his daughter, as cute as people thought it was, is cringeworthy at best.
Hamish Hamilton needs a good lesson on how to direct from a bootlegger. And he's full of himself and has more ego than Bono and Paul McGuinness put together. Have you seen that camera-room feature on the Boston video? Talk about being so far up your own arse and so full of yourself that you can't see what's behind you.
The worst decision since the NLOTH singles.
