1. Original Soundtracks 1 is great, songs like Slug, Your Blue Room and Miss Sarajevo should be classics.
  2. I wish U2 would go back to that. Fez when I heard it I thought it was back to that period. Not quite (and Fez is a piece of genius) but it made me go wow. I love it.
  3. Soon (Kingdom) has more of that great experimental style too. I think if one dug in all the Fez material they recorded, there'd be a lot of great experimental songs like that. They really should release it in some way.
  4. Ah I love Soon! Winter, Stingray and Cedars as well as half of No Line (a strange album but still excellent) is going experimental and not quite getting there.
  5. Yeah, these are just two minutes of greatness:

  6. Sorry I dropped out earlier!!!!
  7. just some random points before i go to bed.

if you google 8.30pm Montreal time, the 1st 10 or so results are based on U2

and i was just reading through the fan reviews on U2.com from the December 1st show in melbourne last year (yup, thats how bored i am right now), about 1 in every 3 reviews is from someone who travelled over from Adelaide. Hopefully they take the hint and come visit us next tour.

    goodnight everyone

  8. I am the enemy to some of you - I am a high school (math) teacher. Sometimes when I give a Unit 2 Test (or a "U2" test - get it?) in a particular course, I add the following at the end:

“U2” BONUS QUESTIONS: Circle the appropriate answers:

    Scoring:
    1 correct no bonus
    2 correct ½-mark bonus
    3 correct 1-mark bonus

    1. What is the name of U2’s lead guitarist?
    a) Slash
    b) The Wedge
    c) The Edge

    2. During which decade did U2 form?
    a) 1970’s
    b) 1980’s
    c) 1990’s

    3. Which of these songs is NOT on the classic album Achtung Baby?
    a) “Beautiful Day”
    b) “One”
    c) “Mysterious Ways”

These questions are common knowledge to (hopefully) all of us. However, there is a 1 in 27 chance that if you guess randomly at these questions you`ll get all three correct. I recently gave this test to 60 of my students. Guess how many got perfect?

Hahaha that's great. You should integrate it into your class more. "If Edge is standing at a 40 degree angle to Bono's right, and Bono is standing at a 180 degree angle from Larry, what angle will be created when Bono inevitably moves over to shove the microphone in Edge's face?"

I teach English, and when we do poetry, I give them a packet of Bono's lyrics, and they always flip through it and say, "Wait, are these ALL from the same band?" Then they sigh, and I force them to listen to the music while we read along.
  11. None of my teachers ever did anything U2 related . Only thing we ever did was listen to Sunday Bloody Sunday once in my 7th grade English class. I might have been a better math student had I gotten some U2 extra credit questions to boost my scores!!!
  12. I can't chose which of these two will be my new avatar...

I think I like the first one better.
