  1. Visit various ghost towns. Theres quite a few of them scattered across the states. Some are closed to the public such as Centralia, Pensyalvania, since the reason it was abandoned was an uncontrolled mine fire that rages under it too this day, which makes the ground fairly unstable (although people still find ways in) but there are a number of ones, which just sit abandoned, especially out in the desert, where all the mining towns where.

    Sounds fun to me! I think it gives you an unique image of how people lived then (and I’m really interested in that), and besides that: it’s just really exciting!

    I once went (accidentally) to a ghost town in France, it was a medieval walled village, really cool. The atmosphere was quite strange, but also magical. But then we discovered star wars swords (well they looked like it, no idea how they ended up there) and we began to play with them. Haha, I never forget that!

    Lots of work to do, lots of travelling, and just got my new iPad. So less time to join in on the forums, but I'm always up to date

  12. Okay its been nearly 10 days without a rant on this forum (and hey everyone, hope you're all well) but someone started playing the Glee version of 'One' in the car the other night (no, they didn't end up the nIrvana version) for the 8 seconds before I switched it off.

    I'm not a fan of Glee, particularly since a weekend away in March, whereby at 3 in the morning the group I was with were playing it (I'm stereotyping when I say this and don't think it applies to everyone but generally find lads are better to have around a table with a few drinks at this time of night, if only because they'll play mellow stuff).

    Anyway I wholly object to this cover version and to Glee in general. There are very few cover versions I'll ever agree to,and only under the guidelines that being that they are a tribute to an artist rather than a commercial way of making money. However Glee go beyond a merchandisation of the songs they cover. What they do is practically statutory rape. They turn the songs into some ditzy pop version and sing completely out of tune to the songs' meaning. For them singing is about having a great singing voice, rather than recognising the emotions, premises and insinuations that go into song-writing and indeed to truly singing the song.

    I admittedly haven't heard their full cover of 'One' so maybe I'm wrong but from their 'interpretation' of other cover songs my guess is that it will be turned into some triumphant pop with a lot of loud voices. That a song that starts of with 'Is it getting better...or do you feel the same.." to "did I disappoint you or leave a bad taste in your mouth" will be sang as though they were singing something by Barney, the Wiggles, Teletubbies or whatever bright eyed speckly creatures that mated and formed the cast of Glee.

    All this wouldn't be so bad if I could avoid it. Anyway I've probably left you so shall resume other useless maunderings.
