1. I was just thinking that it's been a loooong time that they brought out a new single
    A year or so ?
3 singles from 1 album isn't that much is it ?
Don't want to start a "What will be the new single?" thread, but i really think they should bring out one soon...

breathe and mos were rumoured for the 4th single release, but i think they called it off when they realized the debacles of boots, magnificent and crazy.

hope glasto will be a new single, but we'll see.

Maybe they were just too hard to find 10 DJs to remix the exact same song. Who knows.
  4. I think we get a new single when the new album comes out, I hope they will bring out Glastonbury as the new single then.
It isn't suprising that they didnt bring out MOS or Breathe or any other song as a single for NLOTH, because of the non succes the first singles made. I just dont think there are a lot of people now who like this kind of music, nowdays people like rap and RnB or shit things like Katy Perry and not U2 anymore

Have you ever noticed the drum loops and machines always sound exactly the same? Only what's being bought is on the charts - which if it is absolute crap, why buy it? Then it wouldn't get on the charts. But as a rock fan of older and some modern rock - by older acts, no doubt - I know the charts are the last place to look.

Great to have a laugh, worthless for real dirty and hard rock.
  7. If the cost of U2 having a number 1 chart topping song is to have it all club sounding and mainstream sounding, and studio magic all over it, then I'm over the moon about the fact they're still writing songs like Every Breaking Wave. Who cares if it won't be a number one? Their fans know it's a great song, and as long as they're happy with the music they're releasing, and the fans are happy, and the live show still kicks ass, I'm still a proud and happy U2 fan, and I'll be listening to their music until the day I die.
  8. what is annoyed me is U2 saying 'our music is gonna change' it might get heavier ect but its not gonna stay where it is now. SO they release U218 SIngles - "to mark an end of something" aka to get some money from Mercuty... anyway. No Line came out and may of the songs sound simular to that of HTDAAB.

We loved U2 for the gambles changing music genres:

    post punk - atmoshpheric - country/soft rock - alternative rocc/electric - ambient -pop/alternative - soft rock - soft rock - soft rock....

    see what I mean?

I would like the genre to change I like the sound of that Club dance sounding album

Eww. I would HATE to see a club sounding album. That would really turn me off.

NLOTH isn't that similar to HTDAAB. In fact it's very different. The subject of the songs is different, the music is totally different, even Bono sings differently, it just sounds similar because it has that old-Bono voice still.

The only track I could see sounding like a bomb song is Get On Your Boots, and I still don't think that has a place on NLOTH. I think it's a killer song live, but I think it could have been a single prior to the album coming out or something. Every other song is somewhat of a departure. Take songs like MOS, Unknown Caller, Fez-Being Born, White As Snow, NLOTH and Cedars. They don't sound ANYTHING like HTDAAB! They're totally different, and I've only recently discovered it. Even Magnificent is somewhat different, they just found a way to put that traditional U2 sound on it a bit, which is why it sounds "mainstream U2". I've only recently found a love for NLOTH, and it's because of thsoe songs I mentioned.

Sorry but I don't think No Line sounds like How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. I'm eagerly anticipating the announcement of a single. I keep checking this topic when it's updated!
  11. I disagree strongly with the statement that NLOTH sounds like ATYCLB.

Nothing so daring or strange as Moment of Surrender, Unknown Caller, Cedars Of Lebanon, and Fez - Being Born was on the VERY mainstream and poppy (not that there's anything wrong with that, necessarily) ATYCLB.

NLOTH is the first really challenging U2 record since Zooropa. It takes a long time to grow and requires a certain mood for listening. It's a very esoteric and strange one.
